Short Stay

Decoration was dated and tired but room was in a decent state of cleanliness. One window handle was broken in room so top window could not be opened. Reception staff friendly and welcoming.

Mediocre hotel

Hotel did not do breakfast or provide wifi in the rooms. There was mould and rust in the bathroom and chewing gum stuck to the side of the mirror in the bedroom. But the bed was comfy and the hot water was hot.

We were comfortable and thankful there were blankets in the cupboard. The room etc was clean. No problems except the shower didn't work till we got a workman to see to it. Found the side of the bath rather high to get into. Splendid view over the bay. Janet and John

Too noisy, can't sleep

Since there is NO air conditioning in the hotel, windows MUST be opened for fresh and cool airflow. It is VERY noisy for people talking and car running outside your sea view room, could not get sleep until late midnight.

One night stay

Service was friendly. Hotel is clean. Very dated decor and needs a refurb. Twin room. Carpet threadbare in places and the room needs redecorating. Stains in Bath but was clean. Window frame rotten and lots of black mould round it. Windows don't fit properly so lots of noise coming from outside. Its a budget hotel so you get what you pay for. Fantastic sea view though. Overall it was a quick cheap stay.

Curry Favour at The Chatsworth

We chose the Chatsworth Hotel for its central location on the seafront and for its competitive price. It's also worth noting that the upgrade to a room with a seaview was only a few pounds extra so well worthwhile -so many other places really ask too much for this. The building is old but it has been renovated and refurbished to a good standard. Check-in / check-out was smooth and we were warmly welcomed by the manager. We were able to leave our luggage with them after we had checked out so that we could enjoy more time on the beach before we left Hastings. The room was comfortable and the TV had dozens of channels too. Housekeeping was brisk and friendly. Best of all, the hotel has an absolutely stunningly good Indian restaurant with huge portions of delicious and fresh food at very reasonable prices -with 10% off for hotel residents too. We will definitely stay at the Chatsworth and eat in Jali on our next trip to Hastings in a few months' time!

Disappointed is the only way to sum it up really

Unfortunately we did not have a great experience here. The bed was very uncomfortable and the room was too hot to sleep properly, the window only opened a fraction or all the way and it was too windy the weekend we were there to have the window all the way open. The only good thing was the shower was very powerful and had good pressure& hot water The adjoining restaurant we went to on the first night, I'm fairly sure I got food poisoning from too, absolutely would not recommend.

Budget bed for a short stay

On arrival the staff were very welcoming, professional and helpful. The lounge area is spacious with lots of comfy sofas. The room was a good size and had all amenities required for a short stay. Unfortunately the hotel is very tired and didn't feel clean. However, the cleanliness seems as if it is an ongoing issue as dirt was ingrained rather than on the surface. The bathroom tiles and bath were stained yellow/grey), the show curtain was stained yellow and had black mould forming on the bottom. The tap fittings and shower head were loose and leaking. In the bedroom: corners of the room, ledges and windowsills were dusty and unclean. Luckily the towels and bedding looked and felt clean. This is an OK option if you're on a tight budget and need a bed for a night or two.

Read the hotel description carefully

Terrible room, toilet roll holder broken, dusty furniture, dirty window not been washed in ages, bathroom extremely small, couldn’t stand at the wash basin as the toilet was on top of the basin, no sockets by the bed to charge phone or tablet, bedroom window backed onto an alleyway where bottles and bins were emptied, no wifi, what hotel nowadays doesn’t provide internet? We cut short our booking from 2 days to 1 day because of the state of the room. The bedroom decor was horrid, dark and dingy, did enjoy our stay at the hotel one bit. Our day out at Hastings West Cliff was great, fantastic views and the weather was gorgeous, and a drink in the local pub in the sunshine was very nice. I would not use this hotel again, read the description carefully, their website pics were nothing like our room
Basin on top of the toilet
Broken toilet roll holder
Filthy window that overlooked the noisy alleyway

Chatsworth Hotel, Hastings

Good location for town. Hotel required updating. Bed was clean and comfortable. Bathroom had black grout in tiles and shower head a bit rusty. Shower Water was warm and actual bath was clean, sink clean although both needed updating. Hair dryer was ancient but did work. Room with sea view but glass had all blown and we could not see out the window properly. It was a good price for a twin room, shared with sister just overnight, as we were visiting family.
