"We booked this at the last minute as we were travelling up to the Scottish borders and wanted to break the journey due to the extreme heat.
We arrived very late (about 11pm) but we had called the hotel in advance and one of the staff agreed to wait for us. When we did arrive we were greeted with a very warm welcome.
Our one regret is that we didn't have time to make use of the observatory (yes you read that right!)
All staff very friendly and helpful and loved the breakfast"
"Spot on coaching inn, proper pub with good drinks and home cooked food menus. Sitting next to the river Rede,15 miles from Kielder. Very clean ànd the staff were excellent throughout our stay. We'll be going back for sure. Highly recommended."
"Picked this hotel as an overnight stop and was delighted with an impeccably clean, well-appointed room. Staff were very welcoming and attentive. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious, breakfast options to suit all appetites setting guests up for the day. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a base from which to explore the area"
"This was a good stop-over hotel. It's not conventional - just a few rooms but a well-stocked help-yourself breakfast room, and it worked well for one night and the owner, Julia, was lovely and helpful.
The room was relatively small - but well appointed and tea/coffee options and bathroom toiletries were all good.
It was really warm in the room which was even before the heatwave, and the blackout curtains really needed to be closed for privacy as there is no blind/net curtain which did stop the benefit from an open window, so if you have a fan, take it with you!"
"The Langley Castle hotel was a wonderful experience. The staff could not be more accommodating, friendly and helpful. It's been a long time since we experienced such great service and felt so welcomed! We were offered help with our bags, which given the narrow and winding stairs, would be a good option for anyone with a heavy or large suitcase. I believe there were over 20 winding stairs (and not always a hand rail), so if one has any climbing difficulties, be aware of this. Our suite was lovely, as pictured and the A/C was fabulous, especially in a heatwave. The bed was extremely comfortable too. It was nice to have tea, coffee, a carafe of water and some nibbles at the ready. The TV was fiddley and the picture wasn't great, but not that big a deal for us. The breakfast was fine and there was a nice selection of options. However, it was so slow that our coffees went cold waiting - but staff immediately brought fresh when this was noted to them. The bartender was also friendly and helpful. We had a casual meal and that was the only thing I would not have again. My burger whilst hot, was tremendously overcooked, dry and tasteless - almost as if it had been reheated by microwave. I didn't finish it. My partner's fish, although plentiful was greasy. The apple crumble was dry and had the smallest scoop of ice cream I've ever seen in my life. We paid 70 pounds for one of the worst meals we've had. Stay for the experience, but probably eat somewhere else!"
"Perfect for our one night stopover. Room was very light and airy with plenty of space and a large shower room. Breakfast was fantastic with lots of choice. The village was lovely to walk round and we had an excellent evening meal at The Cheviot."
"Really enjoyed our stay. The grounds, room and facilities were lovely. The only slight negative for us was restricted hours for family swimming sessions but otherwise we really enjoyed it and can understand the need to please all users. The staff were superb."
"I can highly recommend the Pheasant. The staff were excellent, the rooms were small but very well appointed, dinner menu was interesting and varied, breakfast was great. Location was perfect for Kielder Reservoir and in the middle of beautiful Northumberland countryside"
