"Lovely outdoor pool area feels like a backyard. Room was comfortable and clean. A:C is loud; walls are thin, breakfast has no vegan choices except bread or sweetened oatmeal but overall it’s a great value and a welcome reprieve from a long drive."
"Staff was nice and room was clean and spacious, but has a stupid design, as the bed is only about 10 inches from the heater/air conditioner, so it is hard for an older person to navigate getting in and out of bed on that side and it blows right on the bed. This had the worst shower I've had in years. The low flow shower head was so low flow that I couldn't get warm and had to straddle the tub faucet and stand right up against the wall or adjust the shower head so 6 strands of water came out that only covered about 6 inches of the body. It's either clogged up or a very poor design. Breakfast was pretty good for an inexpensive hotel."
"We have stayed here several times for an overnight rest. It's an older motel that is dated but still comfortable.
The staff is always friendly and they have a wonderful complimentary breakfast served by the Mexican restaurant attached to the hotel. Truly the best complimentary breakfast around. We usually stay in a room that opens into the courtyard. Try to stay in one of these if possible. This time our room was in the back of the property and opened into the back parking area. A lot of big trucks and tourist buses park there and they come and go at all hours which can be noisy when you are trying to sleep. It also looks like there may be some permanent residents. There was a pile of personal belongings outside of one of the rooms. But overall it provides a good stay at an affordable price."
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Barstow - Route 66 by IHG
8/10 Good
"Stayed for an overnight. Typical Holiday Inn Express, except the bed was much firmer than any other Holiday Inn Express I've stayed at. The property was older and it probably due for a refurb."
