Perfection. Perfect location, lovely room in a stunning courtyard and garden. Staff were super friendly and gave me advice on getting around (and gave me lots of water as they were worried about me on my long onward train ride!)

An original, classic design inside the old walls

I booked this to stay within the old city walls and in the old city itself. The hotel IS an old (original) classic design as was the room with one vast family sized bed (for just me). The facilities were fine, the wifi was good, the ambience was very definitely "old town", all of which was within easy walking distance. Breakfast was included and my western choice was served with a smile. I tried to have dinner there, but the power was playing up (hey - it's 200 years old or some such). The room has air-con/heating, so fine for summer or winter stays. the only thing i missed was a room fridge (and this is only because I need to keep my insulin in it - but it was autumn and "fresh" outside at night, so not the end of the world at the time of my stay). Ice was quickly provided on request (for my whisky night cap). The receptionist went out of her way to help with ALL requests. Thoroughly recommended.

Lovely place with excellent service

Lovely place, excellent and kind service attending to all our needs. We loved the warm evenings at the Courtyard. The only, very small minus was the super hard bed - by the third night we were quite used to that also.

Worth the stay

Great Location and a great value. The rooms are very large and the hotel is amazing with several courtyards to escape the madness of the touristy streets. Mia is a great help recommending places to see and eat.

5 Days of enjoyment , "Highly Recommend "

Highly Recommend this Hotel, traditional Chinese atmosphere. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. I read some of the bad reviews and feel they are unjust. This is China and things are expected to be different than where your from. It does not mean they are bad, just different it's their Culture. We visited in the winter and still enjoyed the open homeyness of the court yards. The location is good, it's close to the busy streets yet not as crowded and is quiet. It is close to the South Gate and easy walk to shopping outside the wall. If I ever get the opportunity to return this is the place I want to stay. We spent 5 enjoyable days there.

Very friendly athmosphere, helpful staff, English communication works well, nice breakfast and just a very beautiful place in tradional local style. Nice location to explore the town. Self service washing machine facility was very helpful. We would like to return to this place.

Wonderful all-around stay.

We had a great stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is good in a quieter part of the old city. They created in their courtyard a cozy and peaceful environment, combining traditional Chinese stay and good comfort for the travellers. Rooms are clean but simple with traditional Chinese hard beds. Bathrooms were clean, but shower is in the washroom itself (not separate) which was ok for us. All in all, an excellent stay in one of our favourite cities in China - a perfect resting place after visiting the old city, and surrounding temples and houses. Very much in keeping with the flavour of Pingyao.

We had a great time in this beautiful guesthouse. The staff is very friendly and always around to help. From here it is a short walk to the main streets. The walk on the city wall is nice though you can only visit half of it, the western section is under construction. The ticket for the sights costs 130 yuan per person, is valid for 3 days and with it you can visit all the sights once. Old Ji was the nicest place we found, with mostly western visitors.

Nice hotel wiht great location. However I would not rate it as 4 or 5 star. The bathroom is crammed and the bed is hard. Would say a 2 or 3 star accomodation. The staff is very helpful and the food is delicious

Our most relaxing and enjoyable stay during our travels. Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Location is an easy walk from the main areas, making it a nice quiet place to return to after a day of exploring. Room was comfortable and clean. Would highly recommend staying here and will definitely stay again, if given the opportunity to revisit Pingyao.

Wonderful ambiance & delightful Inn keeper

The hotel was clean, comfortable & full of great ambiance. What really made our stay was the warm & friendly Inn Keeper who went out of her way to make our stay easy & comfortable. She also spoke great English & was able to help us with our sightseeing plans. The hotel also included free bicycles which were a perfect way to explore the walled city.

Old China Rebuilt.

DO NOT take the 108 bus from the station. take a taxi for 40 yuan. This hotel is a very upmarket hostel. The twin bed room was clean and lovely and warm , also with underfloor heating.Bathroom small also heated with only a shower. Rooms are round a courtyard on the ground floor.Probably more suitable for the spring , summer. Owners speak English and are very helpful and informative.Breakfast good not a buffet.Feel much better after their rice spirit. Pingyao is not often visited by Westerners and is very Chinese, some of which has been rebuilt using the old stones. This is the only fully walled town in China. This is not for somebody who wants 5 star western hotel as it is mainly geared to Chinese. There is no vegetarian or vegan food in Pingyao

Hotel con encanto

La anfitriona (Mía) nos ayudó muchísimo. Nos envió un Taxi a recogernos a la estación de tren y nos dejó prolongar la estancia hasta la tarde. El hotel tiene mucho encanto aunque el baño de ha habitación necesita una mejora.
