JR Inn Hakodate

"Our room was large for Japan standards. The location was great. I would definitely stay here again."

The Lake View Toya Nonokaze Resort
10/10 Excellent
"Our stay at Lake Toya Nonokaze Resort was absolutely amazing and one of the highlights of our entire trip to Japan. My boys still talk about how much they loved this hotel and everything there was to experience around Lake Toya. The rooms were very large and comfortable, and having a private onsen right in our room overlooking the lake was unforgettable. The views were spectacular, and watching the fireworks show over the lake every night made each evening feel special. The breakfasts and dinners were some of our best memories from the entire stay. The variety and quality of the food were incredible, with different stations preparing fresh dishes right in front of you. From freshly made Japanese souffle pancakes and noodles to local specialties and fresh apple juice, every meal felt like an experience rather than just a hotel buffet. My boys absolutely loved it, and we looked forward to breakfast and dinner every day. There is also so much to experience around the lake. The hotel has E-bikes available, which are a fantastic way to explore the beautiful paths, scenery, artwork, and sculptures surrounding Lake Toya. We took a boat ride across the lake to the island, rode the gondola up Mt. Usu, and hiked while enjoying incredible views of the volcano and surrounding landscape. We also loved discovering the hot springs throughout the town. My family said it was absolutely amazing, and I completely agree. We would return without hesitation."

Tokyu Stay Hakodate Asaichi Akarinoyu
10/10 Excellent
"This hotel is in a good location (walking distance from the train station and market). Everything was clean and as described. We were able to store our luggage since we arrived before check in. Nice perk that there's an ice cream shop in the lobby."

Hotel Global View Hakodate
8/10 Good
"A little away from town center and train station but street cars go to property. Hotel nice and beds good but the bathroom is small and hard to use. Great price for in suite room with kitchenette and balcony. The breakfast are excellent and well priced to select that option"

HOTEL MYSTAYS Hakodate Station
8/10 Good
"The location is brilliant - right across from the JR station and parking right next door (¥700 per night self parking so unlimited entry/exit). Very good for local restaurants, the morning market and close to tram stop to visit other attractions in the local area. The room was clean and comfortable, with a smart TV installed. The pillows weren’t great for us but not too bad. We had breakfast at the buffet each day and it was fresh and tasty. Loved them having local Hakodate yoghurt and milk products. That was a lovely touch! My only downside of the whole experience was at check in the staff were busy so the attentions wasn’t there. I went to approach the desk after waiting in line and was rudely told to wait for a self check in station instead. It didn’t worry me to use one - however it was a little confusing as it only allowed me to scan 2 passports out of our 4 guests so then I wasn’t able to ask questions about the breakfast vouchers and additional charges it insisted I pay for. Just would have been nice to have the staff be there for that to make the experience smoother. The breakfast staff were always lovely!"

HOTEL MYSTAYS Hakodate Goryokaku

"Very close to one of the trolley stops"

Hakodate Kokusai Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"After a few busy days in Tokyo, it was a nice change of pace to be in Hakodate. The hotel is in a great location that’s walking distance from the train station. And also to the brick warehouse shopping area and fish market. We also used the onsen at the hotel. It’s included in your stay. It was our very first time for our family. We didn’t know there was a little tote bag we could take up with us to the onsen. Also remember to bring a towel from your room. I wanted to book a massage but it was fully booked. You have to pay separately for the massage. Rates were very reasonable. Plan ahead next time. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet which was excellent. They are famous for the seafood parfait with ikura, shrimp, salmon, tuna. There’s also Wagyu too at the breakfast. Definitely worth it for around $23 usd per person. We would definitely come back again."
