Nice stay.

Location was good in the centre of the town with easy access to all the shops. The bedroom was comfortable and cosy with good views of the town square. It was nice to see and hear the Kelso Folk Club music.

Perfect town-square hotel

Kelso is a beautiful border town, delightful to visit, and the Cross Keys Hotel is perfectly located on the town square. Excellent facilities, lovely room, and best of all for an old hotel for older people like myself, it has a lift!!

Great hotel

Staff were amazing, friendly and welcoming. Be prepared for large portions of food, but well cooked. Look forward to returning.

Never Again

Room was absolutely shabby and dated, felt like I had gone back to the 80s! Awful! Noise from the guests in the room above us, noise from the guests next to us! The cleanliness had a lot to be desired too. Far better hotels out there - even Premier Inns, that charge only a fraction of the price. How are these prices justified? Food was mediocre too. The only positive thing I can say was that the staff were lovely and helpful, the only thing going for this hotel. Oh despite advertising WiFi, there was none.

Hotel very central. Staff kind. Room a bit dated and bathroom could do with refurbishment. Certainly would recommend this hotel.

Country town hotel

The hotel is located in the town square in a prominent position with a very nice facade. The entrance and reception is very modern and has been beautifully finished. The hotel was built some 250/300 years ago and has been totally refurbished to a very high standard. It has 3 floors connected by a lift which is vastly superior to the normal type found in most hotels. The corridors have all been recently refurbished and carpeted, once again excellent quality. The dining room has been refurbished using light wood, an excellent menu, all freshly cooked and using local ingredients where possible. We had a double room refurbished in mahogany, plenty hanging and drawers space, a desk, tea and coffee facility and an ensuite with bath and shower. We cannot speak to highly of the hotel.

Lovely location. Tired rooms.

Lovely location. Just a shame about the very tired decor in the hotel rooms! Reminded me of on call rooms when i worked in a hospital 15 years ago. Get with the times! Think woodchip wallpaper.

Kelso

Kelso is a lovely place with very friendly people and is situated in the borders. We chose to stay at cross keys hotel which is situated in the town square in the heart of kelso cobbled stoned town centre. The hotel was nice clean a bit old fashioned in places the room itself was good only fault was the double bed which was 2 singles pushed together other than that it was good.

Lovely hotel in central location

The 3 of us had a lovely stay at cross keys and all the staff were nice and friendly, We were in the family room with (2 rooms ajoining with 1 bathroom) twin and a double with a sitting area for us all so nobody felt left out All the food was lovely from breakfast to dinner at night The only fault was that there was no view as it was at the back /side of the hotel with nets between the Windows but on the plus side the rooms were cosy and quiet

A comfortable stay

Great staff, pleasant traditional decor and reasonable price-would stay again. Only down sides were very low water pressure in the shower (easier to have a bath) and wifi connection in the room was temperamental.

Friendly staff, slightly dated decor.

I stayed at the Cross Keys on a business trip recently. The public areas of the hotel were nicely decorated and staff were friendly and helpful. The décor in the room was quite dated, although I understand they are in the process of upgrading the rooms and this can take some time. I slept well and there was plenty tea, coffee and water provided in the room. The wifi speeds were excellent for an older hotel. The only problem was that I couldn't get the shower to work - it was an old-school connected to the bath taps number and I couldn't figure it out, so had to have a bath instead.

Poor room.

Lovely looking hotel from the outside but the ensuite to our room was in very poor condition. There was mould around an old plastic bath. The shower was difficult to use and the paint was peeling off the wall. There were also a few cobwebs on the ceiling of our bedroom.
