"We had an amazing 2 night stay at this hotel. The hotel is in a very quiet part of town near the Secretariat building and across the street from the former king’s palace complex. We were told that the building was a guest house for royal guests. The building has 5 floors and each floor has 4-5 rooms, all with a view of the mountains. Lake Changu or Tsongmo is a glacial lake 40 kilometres away from Gangtok.I went there in December…peak of winters..it was freezing cold in gangtok only so you can imagine at an elevation of 3780m.When i saw this mesmerising view of the half frozen lake,my body temp was back to normal due to sudden excitement.The sun rays on the snow and water made them sparkle.It was beautiful.A camera can't capture 20% also of what your actual eyes see.

There are 2types of Prayer flags: 1.Lungta(horizontal) & 2. Darchor(vertical) come in set of five 5 flags in 5 different colors and 5 pure lights. Each color represents the 5 basic elements: blue for space, white for air, red for fire, green for water and yellow for earth. Buddhists believe that balancing these elements brings harmony to the environment and good health to the body and the mind. Thus benefitting all..
These Lungta prayer flags are said to bring happiness, long life and prosperity to the flag planter and those in the vicinity.
