"The Digby Pines is a classic. It has a unique ambience and is located in the loveliest of settings with gorgeous views. It has beautiful mature landscaping. We are regular visitors and noticed that the building and cottages appear to be nicely spruced up. We noticed that the shrubs and greens were not as well maintained as they have been in the past. It has been a dry summer ... We had a suite which was very spacious and even had a jacuzzi. The bed was very comfortable and the aircon was great. TV was smallish for a suite. We stayed for two nights and on the first day room waste was not removed and coffee was not replenished. We loved b'fast at Churchill's (must have some of the nicest eggs benedict around!). We also had dinner and had hoped for better fare: chowder was greyish and quite salty; shrimps and scallops were somewhat over seared. Dinner service was otherwise very welcoming and helping make the evening most enjoyable. Thank you!"
"I'm not quite sure why I keep going back. Let's start with the good points. The staff are always attentive, polite, courteous and efficient. We stayed in one of their larger rooms. The king bed was a little firm but still good. While the bathroom was small, expected in an old hotel, it was nice that use of the toilet did not block the door. And finally, the complimentary buffet breakfast was fantastic.
Now the disappointments. One of the curtains was too small for the window. It got very bright in the room very early. There was no clock in the room. The bathroom door had to be propped open with the bathroom garbage can. There was two LG heat pump heads in the room. They could only be used to cool the room. It was a cold sleep. The phone rang on two occasions. When it was answered, here was no one on the other end. Guest service told us they get phantom calls. They suggested we unplug the phone.
Overall, we liked our stay. It was unfortunate though, that there were little annoyances that maintenance o housekeeping could easily have rectified."
