"Stayed one night only but wished we stayed longer to hang our fishing boots a little longer. A spacious studio for 2 people was very clean and had a small kitchen with a cafe table! The indoor hot tub was a welcomed amenity after exploring Hobbiton! The grounds staff were all friendly and Perkins, the dog, greeted us, too. Laurie, the office manager, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Her husband was a delight to talk to, also, about fishing, of course! "

"The food at the Horse and Jockey restaurant was excellent. So far, my favorite fish and chips, ever. There was no AC but the oscillating fan overcame that. The town was lively and lovely. Great stay. "

"Staff was friendly but the hotel is in poor physical shape. Missing bulbs, loose door handles and a discolored toilet. No hooks in the bathroom. Location was compelling 2hr drive from AKL and near caves, hot springs etc. but if itinerary permits, I would suggest staying in Rotorua instead. "
