Economical out of town hotel

Good if travelling by car, but a bit far out of town with only 1 bus per hour into the centre. Front desk staff not always available we had to wait for them to return.

Local bus and train connections to Leipzig city are difficult with luggage and a 500 m walk to hotel. Ideal motel stopover if you have a car. Good VFM rooms.

Warning

This is not a hotel for people without private transport. It’s over 5 miles from the city centre and buses run infrequently. There is also a lot of traffic noise from a nearby road if you have the window open and since the room faces west and gets the evening sun it becomes very hot with the window closed. There is no air-con, no fridge, no safe and the towels are thin and cheap.

Without a car, it is very difficult to get into town. Taxi drivers do not want to come out that far. Public transportation is not close either. The shower is like entering into a space capsule and small if you’re not a petite person. The bolt on our door did not work. The mattress had nothing to keep it in place so would slide when you got on and off the bed. The angled ceiling beams prevent one from walking to the other side of the bed without significant bending—not for tall people. The younger male nighttime desk clerk is very friendly and was helpful. There is no AC but you can open windows fully although it’s noisy outside and if you’re on the entrance side guests stand outside and smoke.

Schönes Hotel - am Standrand

Wir waren eine Nacht dort auf dem Weg in den Urlaub. Sehr freundliches Personal, Familienzimmer war groß und alles da was man brauchte. Das Zimmer war liebevoll hergerichtet. Das Restaurant neben an ebenfalls ein Besuch wert.
