Our stay was fantastic. Room was lovely and clean and well stocked. Food was amazing and good portions Staff would help you with anything. Very friendly and made great conversation and good advise of the area Would definitely staff here again and recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the area

Great

Amazing service. The food was great, parking was easy. I was also traveling with a dog and there was a walking trail one minute away which was recommended by the owner. I would definitely stay again.

The Blacksmiths is a great find and the family that run this establishment are very welcoming and were very obliging to the clientèle. I had a good quality breakfast. I would stay here again and recommend the Blacksmiths to others

The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was good. However the room was poor - noisy from other guests and the road outside plus the shower was old and some of the walls and ceiling unfinished from painting.

Lovely hotel, staff very friendly and welcoming. Double glazed windows so early morning traffic not heard. As a smoker the area for smoking was located outside close to rooms, so no long walk.

A useful base

Fairly basic accommodation but fine for what we needed. Pleasant hosts. Hotel a little further from Lewes than we expected. Beds comfy but room decor a little tired and bathroom especially needed some TLC. Continental breakfast fine - nice coffee. Extra charge for cooked.

Brilliant staff

Room decoration a bit tired and water pressure low but really comfortable. Staff amazing, especially as my wife had dropped some tablets in the room which we didn’t realise until long after we’d checked out that the staff had saved them when we returned later

A clean comfortable room above a pub

A clean comfortable room. I didn't have dinner and it was nice to be able to have a drink in the bar. A noisy snorer in the next room kept me awake for a while but that can happen in a lot of hotels. To say it is next to a busy roundabout, with the windows shut it was fine. Continental Breakfast included in the room rate was good and adequate. I didn't need a Full English Breakfast (optional extra) as I knew I was going out for lunch.

There is a lot about this pub that is ordinary: the room was quite small and the bathroom was not really separate - a problem if you had an upset stomach, for example! However, the staff - and in fact the other guests while we were there - were exceptionally friendly and helpful. It made an ordinary stay into a very welcome one. I was travelling with The Boss, who can be very fussy. The Boss said she would be happy to go back, and that isn't usual. So, well done, Blacksmiths Arms. Humble pub, run beautifully. Good job. Would return, no problem. £89 bit expensive, but then again, that's where we are these days, and there wasn't much available in the Lewes area at all. Decent breakfast for two included, with extras if wanted.
