They allowed us to check in before checkin time, and out before check out time. The beds were clean and comfortable. The rooms were spotless, the view was amazing. Cant wait to go back when it warms up and is busy.
The stay was fine except we would appreciate clean towels
each day.
Quiet, peaceful and felt safe.

Liked: Cleanliness
It was clean. Beds ok. Booking said there’d be a breakfast but restaurant was closed. Had to find a town with one. Challenging especially on a Sunday. Wasn’t horrible, but wouldn’t go back.
A very lovely setting overlooking the lake. Peaceful and relaxing. The room-though dated- was clean and quiet.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
Great Family run Lake resort . Going through some growing pains since owners have been there only a year and had some surprises. Staff in restaurant are not seasoned due to age and experience. located in very rural area so the pool to hire staff is limited for hospitality industry. All the staff was very friendly and courteous. Food was good and priced well. I will go back when in the area again.
Loved the keyless door lock. They were great for checking me in over the phone when I had vehicle trouble and wouldn't make it in time for check in. Room was clean and they had the most comfortable beds I'm slept on in a hotel
I never received clean towels or washcloths. I guess they won't put them in the room when your gone. Also would have liked a curtain over the window for more privacy and not just blinds.
The room had recently been updated. The flooring, beds are new. Great pillows. The heater was very loud when it would kick on. I know it woke me up at least 6 times during the night ( per my fit bit watch). The in room coffee was awful, but only option in the area. The towels were very thin and worn, and tiny, about the size of a floor mat. Worst hotel towels I have ever experienced.
The balcony was a plus with a beautiful view of the lake.
Not sure I would stay here again.
There was no description of the stairs necessary to get to our room from the parking area. It was that or walk the long way around the closed office. Guests need to read the hours that the office is open. I did not and barely made it in time. The restaurant across the road is the late check-in and they had closed at 8pm just as we got there. Thankfully, they let me in and were more than kind and got us check-in.
In the beginning a very accommodating place, first night no issues although confusing on where to go to check in. 2nd night they are clearly under staffed for any sort of dinner rush. My family sat at table for 20 mins and saw no server even for water. Walked back to room tried to place Togo order, no one answering phone. Walked back over and gave my order to girl at front desk. A little after 8pm I call to check on my order and they had no record of it and told me kitchen was closed. I asked for manager and told her the whole story, she apologized and rounded up some bbq sandwiches and fries, finally got that a lil before 9pm. That scenario really tainted my stay but I do appreciate they still tried to make up for it. My suggestion is if that short staffed condense your menu or only seat so many at a time. Otherwise rustic lodge was nice and clean.
I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Shady Cliff hotel and I must say, it truly warmed my heart and brought me much joy Even in the cold season grasp. As someone who travels for work 25 days out of a month, I understand how challenging it can be to find a place that feels like a home away from home. But HOLY SMOKES! at the Shady Cliff hotel, I was met with such kindness and care especially when i so DESPERATELY NEEDED IT. that I was truly touched...
From the moment I walked in, the staff greeted me with warm smiles and the Manager whom is ever so wonderful Abby went out of her way to ensure my comfort and contentment during my stay. I extended my heart blessings to you dear! The level of attentiveness and personal touch shown by everyone at the hotel was truly remarkable.
The rooms were not only spacious and clean, but also thoughtfully stocked with all the amenities I could need. The well-maintained grounds and stunning views of the cliffs made for a truly serene and peaceful atmosphere. I found solace in relaxing by the lake and simply taking in the beauty around me. Even finding “the twigs”
Overall, my experience at the Shady Cliff hotel was nothing short of exceptional. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone in search of a top-tier hidden gem hotel experience. Again I am grateful to Abby and the rest of the staff for creating such a memorable stay for me. Will be seeing me again!!
Beds were comterable but service was lacking was offered free ice but no one was around to get it when we needed it.
Realize this was consider off season, but resturant had hours that didn't match our schedule and no one to talk to except online. It was a beautiful spot, might try again when in area again.
