Having stayed at a mainstream hotel in Copenhagen the night before for 5 times the price I was pleasantly surprised and would chose Coal Miners Cabins over other hotels for cleanliness and great service all at a fantastic price."

"This hotel get 4 out of 5 stars as an objection to all hotels in Longyearbyen. There is no reason why they are so high-priced except that they can get away with it. The Vauilt is not quite as bad as most of the other hotels on this count. Now for what a traveler might want to know.... The free breakfast is excellent. The room doubles as a sushi restaurant at night. As a sushi restaurant, I would give them a B. The location is in the heart of town (both blocks). The staff is incredibly helpful. The rooms come with blackout drapes for those that need them. They are very clean, as are the bathrooms, but there is no desk so computer work is difficult. I have stayed here before and will again."

"Room was very nice. Not fancy, but very comfortable and clean. Location was GREAT, at least for me. Close to pretty much everything I cared about for my two day stay (while waiting for cruise to begin). Didn't clean room, but I didn't care. Staff was generally very nice and helpful. Only things I didn't like were: (1) wouldn't let me check in an hour or two early. (Bus driver had offered to drive me from hotel to lodge. Since they wouldn't allow early check-in, even though room was ready, I ended having to carry luggage a block.) 2) They wanted to charge hourly rate for late checkout, even though they told me they didn't need the room. I've never come across that before."
