Poor experience

My experience and expected were far below average. The pictures of the room i saw online did not reflect the reality. The toliet and bath were separate and they were used by 4 or more that rooms and they were not clean.

The rising damp on the walls all the way to the second floor was unnerving, and so were the broken windows in the hallway. I could have ignored the broken chair in my room, the missing light in the shower and the TV which was poorly hung on the wall (no remote for it, either). But the WC was a shared one for the second floor rooms and there were mushrooms growing on the window frame, perhaps due to the excessive damp. I had to find alternative accommodation as I didn't feel it was safe for me to stay at the hotel.

Just don't!!

Shocking place! Good location for a low budget horror movie. Down a dark alley with overflowing bins and noisy extractor fans. Inside, the smell of damp and decay and the flourishing growth of fungi on the corridor walls adds to the overall " rooms by the hour " vibe. No towels provided but wouldn't have risked the shower anyway. Location is great. Needs a huge investment to bring it up to a low standard.

Poor standard of hotel

The hotel was in a good position in terms of the venue we were going too & bars , restaurant etc . The condition of the hotel was awful , damp everywhere , heating not working properly & not very clean ! The guy on reception was very helpful and friendly so no complaints about him at all . I wouldn't stay there again .

Over-priced and shabby.

It was my own fault for not realising the room was not en suite, but that’s probably because I don’t expect any city centre hotels to still have shared bathrooms. Or not provide towels. This hotel is tired, shabby, reminiscent of a room I stayed in in a hostel once, but way more than I’d pay for a hostel. The place needs decorating and new carpets as a minimum. The bathroom ceiling was stained and the shower door hanging badly so it didn’t close. I turned on the bathroom light and blew the fuse. And my bedroom door didn’t quite fit the frame. It would have been ok at hostel prices - maybe a third what I paid.

Adequate

Mohammed was a nice guy and was helpful at check in/out. The hotel was very basic, shared bathroom and toilet but neither locks worked and the toilet ceiling leaked in rainwater during the night. The room was again, very basic but the sheets were clean and the bed was comfy. Horrific noise from shop deliveries in the early hours which woke us both and went on for an hour or more. No breakfast due to Covid but plenty of places close by Hotel is central for the AO Arena, Deansgate, Printworks and Christmas markets. Offf site parking at Northern Quarter car park (4 mins away on foot) it was £20 for 24 hours. IMerchsnts Hotel was adequate for what we wanted as we spent no length of time in the room.

It was very cold inside the room. The madrass was not good. The internett was only to use by the recption. It was very noisy from the outside streets through al the night. The place was central.

Stay away.

If this cost £30 for the night I’d of still been unhappy, £140 was day light robbery. End of day it’s a low budget hotel, but it’s still one to stay away from. the bed sheets were absolutely filthy with stains all over them. And there’s a smoke alarm which is running low on battery which was beeping all night. I’d of had a better nights sleep in a prison cell. I just wish we had taken photos of the bed sheets, We wanted to get away so quickly it didn’t cross our Mind. But when I say filthy I mean brothels would have cleaner sheets. Absolutely Shocking. A refund should of been offered.

I liked the very central location. The Hotel was not 5-Star but was cheap. No Wi-Fi and and had to go down a floor to use the shower and toilet but otherwise fine.
