"After check in, we went to our room (140) which had a double bed in one room and 2 sofa beds in the adjoining room, lots of space for everyone! One of the sofa beds wasn’t made up so I asked reception for help. They quickly came along with bedding and we went for a swim before dinner.
Dinner was served in the bar as there were too few guests to use the restaurant. The food was standard hotel price and quality, it filled a hole but wouldn’t be a reason to return.
We returned to our room and despite being a bit too hot, we all slept well.
We woke in the morning and fitted in another swim before breakfast. Someone had registered for breakfast under our room number - a non resident and his kids freeloading.
My daughter began itching her arm but I thought nothing of it. Over the course of the next couple of hours she was itchy all over and when I looked she had red itchy spots all over both arms, her shoulders and back.
I emailed the hotel to let them know so they could check the room/sofa bed and bedding but they haven’t replied.
We were due to return on our way back home but have managed to cancel this. We are now out of pocket for antihistamine, creams and washing our clothing at 60 degrees but we learnt an important lesson. I have stayed in many hotels and never thought to check for such things. I don’t think I’ll ever sleep anywhere again without a mattress inspection. "
