"I initially had some issues with this facility, with the room and bathroom cleanliness. However, management rectified it and the remainder of my stay went smoothly. Property is somewhat dated. The replacement room was orderly. Good location, staff were attentive and polite. As far as a hotel rating goes, it is about a 2-2.5 star facility. The breakfast buffet is planned based on guest nationality, when I tried it, it was mainly an Indian breakfast, but I found items I liked to eat! Lack of an elevator has to be disclosed IMO for safety of the guests and disabled guests. Food choices can be limited based on occupancy, primarily for Lunch and Dinner. There are many eateries in the city of Kandy nearby and they are easy to get to."

"Beautiful stay at the grand serendib. I booked this hotel after reading some reviews and liking the pictures and it did not disappoint. In a great location just up the hill from KANDY centre away from the hustle and bustle. Amazing views from the huge room and balcony, the restaurant for breakfast and pool area then on the floor above a gorgeous rooftop bar and restaurant which we ate in a few nights with lovely entertainment Another night we got room service and ate on our balcony as we were so tired from our day trip and thw food standard and service was just as good. The pool was slightly smaller than I thought but we managed to get beds and was lovely and chilled. We also had a massage on our first day at the spa which was fabulous and very reasonably priced. All the staff couldnt do enough to make your stay memorable and the welcome drink and wet towel on arrival was a nice touch. Also recommend a car service for us to get from the airport."

"Grand hills kandy a very comfortable, beautiful and stylish boutique hotel kandy with absolutely magnificent views out over the magnificent surrounding middle of the jungle... We were very well looked after by the very helpful staff who provided all that was needed, communication with manger was excellen.The property is on a hill and you can have an amazing view from the balcony overlooking the green mountains and the waterfalls, Food served at the restaurant was tasty. The breakfast buffet spread was huge. excellent location for visiting Kandy. it was a real pleasure to stay here one night was far too short a time and i would love to return. Highly recommended.❤️"

"I try to write fair, detailed reviews as I rely on them myself when choosing properties. Mountbatten appealed to me for its heritage positioning and proximity to Kandy’s historical centre, and in many ways it delivered. Location & Atmosphere – 5★ The setting is exceptional: tranquil, elevated, surrounded by greenery, and beautifully maintained. The infinity pool is stunning and the staff are very mindful of guests seeking quiet. It genuinely feels peaceful. Service – 5★ Warm, attentive and polished throughout. The team clearly cares and service is consistently strong. Rooms – 4★ I stayed in the main bungalow (last-minute booking), not in one of the standalone jungle lodges, which look beautiful. My room was comfortable with strong AC and a spacious bathroom, though certain finishes could benefit from cosmetic updates. Food – 4★ Breakfast is good if you choose wisely. Coffee, however, does not match five-star standards. The main issue was menu consistency: several dishes did not fully match their written descriptions, and ingredients listed were sometimes missing. Communication between kitchen and menu needs tightening. Overall, Mountbatten has outstanding foundations — location, tranquility and service. With improved kitchen execution and small refinements, it could easily move from very good to exceptional. I would return — especially to try one of the lodges. "
