Winter sunrise at the summit of Moel Famau, in the Clwydian Range of North Wales. It's an easy hike in the dark as the paths are so well trodden out, though you're pretty exposed to the elements! I never set off without a flask of coffee, be sure to do the same!

I've really taken more interest in intimate landscapes in recent months. I'd already been to the summit of Moel Famau for sunrise, and only noticed these icy pools on my way back down. I love the look of the ice formations alongside the rough grasses, and went with the vertical framing to take into account the summit of the mountain.
