"The property was in unacceptable condition, and I did not feel comfortable staying there. Before I even got to the room, I noticed water stains and poor upkeep in the lobby/common areas. While I was checking in, another guest was at the front desk showing photos and complaining about the cleanliness of her room, which was already concerning.
The condition of the property got worse as I looked around. The back entrance door that appeared to be secured was not locked, people were standing and smoking near the rear of the building, and some doors appeared damaged or missing hardware. The pool area was closed and in disarray. Inside the room, I found debris, stained furniture, dirty surfaces, and overall poor cleanliness. The room door area also had visible damage where hardware appeared to have been removed or drilled out, which raised safety concerns.
The public restroom/common-area bathroom was also below basic hotel standards. It was missing toilet paper and had Kleenex available instead, which made the lack of maintenance and cleanliness even more obvious. Overall, the property looked neglected, dirty, and unsafe. I took photos, returned to the front desk, and explained that I could not stay there. The front desk supervisor cancelled the reservation without a hotel fee and advised me to contact Expedia for the full refund.
I would not recommend this property unless major cleaning, maintenance, and security issues are corrected."
"After checking in I didn't look at the room yet, I just wanted ice. I checked my floor no ice just trash. I went to the the front and ask where's the ice machine? She said I'll give it to you, she went in the back and came back with a small bag of ice I knew then my experience wouldn't be good. The bathroom floor was wet, the sink was dripping, the toilet was dirty, the tub was filthy we didn't shower. And 1 towel. This hotel needs to be investigated by the Health Board IT'S THAT BAD!!!!"
Extended Stay America Premier Suites - Cleveland - Independence
2/10 Terrible
"Breakfast is a complete bomb. Small packaged muffins and sugar filled yogurt does not constitute a healthy breakfast and start to one’s day.
Rooms haven’t been renovated in ages.
People in hallways making loud noises in the middle of the night were disruptive to sleep.
Flashing security lights inside the room were disruptive as well.
Front desk personnel was excellent to check in with."
"This place is in need of a serious refresh. The entire hotel, from the hallways to the room, smelled. Hallway like gym socks and bathroom in our room had a terrible sewer smell coming from the drain. Speaking of, the drain in the sink backed up immediately, taking forever to clear. The AC unit looked like it had been through a war and barely kept up with the weather in the 80's. We made sure to keep the blinds drawn to help keep the sun's heat out. Never got the room below 72. Rest of the room had some serious dings to the walls and other odd hack-job repairs. The only saving graces were the bed was fairly comfortable, the shower was clean and ran well without backing up, and you have easy access to the freeway. Staff was indifferent about us staying there, borderline cold."
