Originally meant to be the president's residence, dictator Porfirio Diaz ordered the construction of this building, it was delayed multiple times but in the meantime Diaz's government was overthrown by the war named Mexican Revolution. In time the project was reactivated but now as a monument honoring said war. If you visit, make sure to stay after sunset.
