Camping overnight in a turf house village we decided to go on an #Adventure towards the snow capped Herdubreid the Queen.

Many Icelanders consider her to be the most beautiful mountain in all of Iceland. Herdubreid is actually a tuya, a flat topped volcano with steep sides that forms when lava erupts through a glacier.

This campsite was one of the most unique we stayed at with its all of its turf houses.

This property is very remote but a great option to break up a long drive between Myvatn and the east coast towns. Lots of different buildings for overnighters with a restaurant on site. Beautiful scenery and so peaceful.

Room was clean and comfortable, heated nicely for arrival. Shower was hot and instructions for the cabin easy to understand. We arrived late and then waited to see the northern lights, which we did. A great view from the bedroom side window over the mountains. Definitely would come back here
