A perfect weekend retreat

we both really liked the room ,big and spacious. everything you need the dinners were good ,well worth the money. i would say this is a nine out of ten the only reason not to be a ten is the traffic so all in all had a great time and would recommend you try this b&b

n early January we stayed for five nights in the Maslin Suite. Everything about the Innkeepers House is first class and to a high standard but it is not snobby or pretentious in any way. Gillian and George are tremendous hosts who do everything they can to look after their guests. The breakfasts include everything you could possibly want and the evening a la carte dining is magnificent. Everything on the menu is perfectly cooked and delicious (I have to make a special mention of George's Fillet of Beef and Gill's Creme Brulee and Chocolate Mousse!) Dining with the two other house guests was also a different but highly enjoyable experience - haven't laughed so much in years. Highly recommended. Many thanks to Gill and George for a great stay.

Fantastic Long Weekend

Gillian and George are amazing Hosts this place is fantastic, the rooms are huge and so clean and well maintained, the gas log fire a warm bonus and the spa bath a relaxing winner after a full day exploring the area. The Dinners served up by Gillian are delicious and plentiful. There is so much I can say about this place, but then my review would turn into a novel, definitely one of the best places I’ve stayed at.

This is an immaculate, exceptionally presented and very spacious accommodation in a lovely rural area. Gill & George are excellent hosts and offer an evening meal which was delicious. Unfortunately we only booked for one night but could have stayed on but to finish we had a breakfast included in the price with unique touches which made all the difference to a beautifully cooked breakfast. We would highly recommend Blackwood Innkeepers House to other couples travelling in the South West.

George fussed about my footwear when checking in (soft soled doc martens) and wanted me to take them off because he said they have expensive wool carpets. Didn't explain use of gas fire properly so I ended up burning my hand later that night. They offered an alternative to the meal I selected as they didn't have lamb shanks I wanted, but never told me they'd be changing the sauce (to one I'd specifically avoided other meal choices for and it was unpalatable) or that alternative option of food would cost more (although adjusted price when I mentioned this). The creme brulee was still mostly granulated sugar with patches of burnt sugar rather than a caramelized hard topping. The spa was the one saving grace to the whole experience. Overall I found it a bit stiff and formal, perhaps travelling alone makes it odd as sitting in a formal dining room all by oneself is weird. Eating it in the room where it would feel far more homely was apparently not an option. Gillian and George are lovely people but don't seem to communicate the processes (which they are obviously used to) very well making things feel stilted. I was disappointed as description of the property mentions private patio, there is no such thing. I was hoping to sit outside in a little haven but it's really just a small verandah area leading to the doors of house and suites with a small table and chairs outside each suite entry, facing a big hedge.

Really impressed! Spacious rooms, full of old-world charm. Cosy and comfortable. Excellent amenities. Fabulous food, including lots of home-made produce.Would definitely book again.

Gillian and George are attentive hosts. They have built on the inn's heritage to give it an old worlde touch with many antiques and leriod pieces. We were seeking accomodation to break the journey between Albany and Perth whilst taking a the scenic route. Tne Blackwood Inn Innkeeprs House fitted the bill perfectly

Homely Ol' Word Charm

Gillian and George were lovely hosts. The room was set up lovely with very comfortable 4 post king bed and large bathroom and kit henette/wardrobe. Very quiet at night and peaceful. We had a lovely dinner at the inn and the breakfast was just as exquisite. The old time touch and personal service made the place unique. Very close drive to town. Would definately stay again.

Amazing spot to stop the time as it is in the middle of 2 small towns. Run by 2 pleasant elderly, I must say 2 thumbs up

Awesome B&B

Awesome B&B Fabulous room and decor with a huge spa bath and four poster King size bed. There is a lovely open gas fire and comfortable lounge furniture. Everything is spotless. The breakfast is delightful and includes home made jams and preserved fruit. Dinner can be ordered the day before and is delicious and reasonably priced. It is cooked by the owners and served in a beautiful dining room just inside the main house. A great little get away and gate way to the south west wineries and Nannup flower fest.

George and Gillian were very welcoming. Our room was really comfortable and cozy and after a long drive the hot bath was very welcome. Our evening meal was just beautifully prepared and presented. Complimentary wine was an unexpected delight. Our breakfast was beautiful also. We would have no hesitation in recommending this accommodation to other travellers.

Just a lovely B&B to spend a few nights.

The rooms are beautifully appointed, great sitting area with modern TV and CD player. The spa is good. BBQ area is excellent, breakfasts are great. Make sure you dine in at least once, check out the menu. We stayed for 3 nights ( our 2nd time ) and still found plenty to keep us occupied in Balingup and surounds.

Great location to visit an amazing region.

Arrived late in afternoon to be welcomed by Gill. Loved the evening meal, complimentary wine, cooked breakfast, great background music and fantastic hosts. Will book for two nights on our next vist.

Historic elegance with spa

Hosts George and Gill were helpful and accommodating. The room was large, well furnished and featured antiques and historical curiosities. A hot spa and a comfortable bed after a day on the road. The breakfast was full and served with tasty home-made treats. The historic inn is well-presented throughout and is a memorable stop nearby to many south-west towns.

WONDERFUL STAY AT THE BLACKWOOD INKEEPERS INN

I loved staying at the Blackwood Inkeepers Inn. The B & B was amazing and so well thought out. The food was delicious, carefully prepared by owner Gillian, beautifully presented on fine china in a delightful dining room and generously served by owner George. We didn't even have to pour our wine glasses as George would miraculously appear when the glasses were low. Our very hospitable hosts, George and Gillian, provide a welcoming and extremely plush experience for weary travelers. There's also so much to do in the surrounding area. Next time, I plan for us to stay longer.

Relaxing and friendly place to stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Inn. George and Jill were very friendly and accommodating hosts. Room was lovely and for a relaxing stay very quiet and lovely scenery. Would definitely stay there again and will reccommend it.
