Place Stanislas is arguably the most beautiful square in Europe. Certainly in France. The opera house is a gem Grand hotel de la Reine just next door and part of the wonderful architectural group.Stunning.

Nancy is beautiful and well worth the visit, if only for the remarkable Place Stanislaus! Around the centre seems safe and shopping is very good. Be aware that a few blocks out, esp south, there are pick-pockets operationg solo and in gangs.
