The Executive Inn
They could tell you when booking that they were renovating. They could also give you a club card to use in the club to obtain club prices. I could have saved a bit if they had done this (or at least informed me of the savings.)

Little National Hotel Newcastle
Small room but with a big personality. Room was clean, stylish and bed was comfy. A bit of a tight squeeze for two but would be perfect for a solo trip. Housekeeping staff were lovely. Front desk staff were lukewarm but efficient.

To start with the paid parking system is confusing and poorly handled by staff. So bad that the front counter staff didn't even know what code was needed to leave and return to the carpark on foot.
