"It was overall a really good place to stay, there's a washing machine and the only way to dry clothes is with some dryer integrated into the shower, it takes a while, other than that it was great."
"Check in experience was not a pleasant one, for some reason the booking showed only for 2 adults, but actually it supposed to be for 4 people. I booked a room that stated it is for 4 people but the gentleman who check us in stated that this room by law can’t be for 4 people!!? and he said to get a room for 4 people there will be 28,000 Yen extra charge for the 2 nights. By the time of the check in the booking price for the room was dropped to less than $400 (original booking was over $500), the...

One thing I will say, the closest station is a 16 minute walk, but as someone who enjoys being on their feet it didn't make a difference in my opinion at all. Would recommend heavily if you'd like to feel at home in Kyoto!"
"Lovely 100-year old house repurposed as guest house. Modern additions such as air con and shower room added around original building with wooden sliding doors and futon beds. Lovely, helpful owners met us and showed us everything - thank you!"
"We were warmly welcomed by our hosts. Was a real treat to experience their bath and tea ceremony. Breakfast was traditional and tasty and my partner’s vegetarian alternative was just as thoughtfully put together and delicious. Location was a little way out from the main sights, however, this was better as we were in a charming neighbourhood with many authentic buildings and character away from the busy tourist areas. We chose this ryoken based on a friend’s recommendation and I would highly...
