"This was an amazing experience for my family. A great, authentic old hotel 1891. In beautiful Silverton, Colorado. We thoroughly enjoyed the ambience, the food and the conversations with the host, Matt and other guest. The back yard with lawn, flowers and hot tub was enjoyed by our two grandchildren. The town of Silverton and surrounding area is a pure joy to visit."
"Great service even though no one is on site. Made last minute reservation on the road and ended up with a second floor room. One call to the extremely helpful call center lady and she took care of the problem (old dog). Loved the place. Right next to the forest and river. Definitely worth staying there."
"Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and comfortable, but adding a proper safety rail to the top bunk would make it much safer for families with children. The spacious shower was a wonderful bonus and something we really appreciated."
"This is a really funky, quaint historic hotel. Great location, you can walk all over Silverton and to the shops and restaurants. My son and I stayed on our way through to our home in Northern Colorado. We were in the two bedroom room. The beds were super comfortable and we slept really well. Our main complaint was that we couldn't see in the bathroom, there was one little light by the mirror. There was another small wall light by the shower, but it had no bulb in it - so the shower was quite dark while showering!
This is a Colorado mountain town hotel. It is not luxurious by any means, but it is fun. It is in one of the most beautiful places, and does not even try to be pretentious, much like the town it sits in. I hope that never changes. There are plenty of other places to get that attitude in Colorado, just point to a map. I don't know if the Avon is open in the winter, but my son and I talked about returning then, it is my favorite time to be in Silverton. The Avon is good and definitely has the potential to be absolutely great. I will be returning!"
"This was a great place to stay in Silverton! The staff was amazing! The place was very clean and cozy. The staff pays attention to details and it almost felt like staying at a friends house. Highly recommended for couples and families."
