"The hotel dining room overlooks the lake and has an amazing view. The facilities are good and rooms have a Juliet balcony to get some fresh air, which is a nice change. The breakfast was the best of all the Iceland hotels I stayed at. "

"This was our favorite stay on our 11 day trip. It’s a little treasure of the main road. The staff is friendly and made some great cocktails during their happy hour. Plus both dinner and breakfast the next morning were excellent. The view of the surrounding farms left us feeling safe and refreshed after a long day of fighting strong winds."

"The guest house is by the lake and the view is really nice! The kitchen and bathroom is shared and well equipped, there are 2 washroom in the floor, one large and one small, the room is a little bit small, it is even smaller than the larger bath room but warm and cozy, it is okay for a good night's sleep and rest for another long drive next day."

"The breakfast at Hotel Akureyri was fantastic! Waffles, eggs, fresh bread and rolls and fresh fruit among other delicious goodies! The hotel was in walking distance to many activities in the area and the staff was super helpful in finding a place for dinner. The rooms were very nice. The only negative side to this hotel was a lack of laundry service. When I booked this hotel in July 2025 for an April 2026 visit, the booking site said Hotel Akureyri had laundry services. They did not. ...

"On arrival given the wrong apartment twice. No cooking facilities when told self catering. Overall communication with staff good. Overall was very clean warm and spacious with a superb view of the sea. "
