Full of character with cobwebs!!
This is a quaint hotel, full of character, in a small attractive village on the west side of Dartmoor. It was particularly welcoming when we arrived in the evening, in thick fog! The bar was busy and there was a huge open fire. The food in the restaurant was excellent and the service was good. The restaurant was adorned with old pictures and photos which added to the atmosphere.
On first arriving at our room, the impression was good and very cosy. On closer inspection, we could have done without the cobwebs around the lights and the area behind/under the beds needed a good clean. Amidst the general dust there, was a large chocolate wrapper and a coin! The bathroom was clean and compact but a shelf placed above the small basin made it difficult to clean my teeth and wash my face. The fire door spring on the top of the room door was broken so closing and opening it were a little tricky!
Nevertheless, I'd still recommend this reasonably priced hotel for its atmosphere and charm.
