Go around to the side and back of the castle for great views most people miss. Also, walk down toward the river at the back and look back up at the castle for another great view. Invest the 1,000 Yen to go onto the roof top terrace and have a drink while looking at the castle in comfort.

Don't be afraid to take the stairs if there is a long queue for the lift. Both our children (3 and 7) were able to manage the hike up and down.
