"Problems are too numerous to mention so will provide the highlights. The good: Location - Onsite and the access road to the lodge are prime birding and butterfly and iguana areas. It's wonderful! Just ~10 minutes away from great local Sodas for good food. AC works, which is important in the oppressive heat this time of year. There is onsite food if you're desperate not to drive elsewhere. "The water in the Hot Tub will be Hot, there may be giant coach roaches, and ants within the room due to its location. Bathroom could have been better. Stains on wall. Some staff friendly. Ensure you obtain you a do not disturb tag for your room, to avoid any miscommunications, assumptions, and unnecessary fees."

"Absolutely amazing stay at Marala Hotel! We booked their best Premium Suite, and it was 100% worth the splurge. The property is gorgeous, peaceful, beautifully maintained, and made our Costa Rica trip feel extra special. The suite itself was incredible and absolutely lived up to the premium experience. "We chose the hotel for it's convenient location in the city of Orotina , where we were visiting relatives . The staff was good , perhaps a little inattentive on check out. The reception office was closed and I had to look around for someone to return my key. Be advice there's is a very noisy soccer academy right next door . We were alocated on room 11 , close to the academy . It can be an issue if you are trying to rest early evening ."
