Great resort with nice rooms, great beach and restaurants. Rooms could be slightly cleaner but overall we had a great stay.

We all got sick

We booked this hotel as it was where our friends wanted to get married but not is not the type of place we normally like to stay. We stayed in the privilege area and never saw our Butler nor could we ever get a hold of him... not quite sure what he was therefore as we have stayed another resorts that had Butler’s with amazing service. Unfortunately all 17 of us at some point got food poisoning and was completely awful. This resort definitely needs to reevaluate how they handle the food since they’re all children there. The rooftop room was nice and spacious though but we will not be returning.

SUPER GREAT UNLESS YOU HAVE A ROOM ISSUE

This is our 2nd time back to ORP and 3rd time to an H10 property. (last year was our honeymoon... this yr 1 year anniversary). We LOVE this hotel chain and in the past have always Raved about it. So much so that we convinced 11 of our friends to join us 2 years ago and 8 friends to join us this time. We're Fans!! However, this time the Privilege room we were staying is was FREEZING COLD (they even went as far as disabling the AC in the room but still didn't help). It took 3 days, 4+ hours of my time at the front desk speaking with supervisors, and MORE MONEY to finally get moved into a comfortable room. Don't get me wrong, we LOVE the staff at this resort!! They work their tails off to try to please the customers. I honestly think its an upper management issue. It seems basic supervisors/managers are not empowered to make changes, and therefore are left caught between a rock and a hard place when they have upset clientele. Upper level supervisors aren't the ones dealing with frustrated customers so they have no idea the stress and impact their having on their employees who have their hands tied until they cut through 3 days of red tape. My upset is with the higher ups of H10 not empowering their employees to problem solve and do damage control in a timely fashion. 3 days of our 8 day vacation were wasted as we were dealing with this issue. The other 5 were blissful as always.

Priviledge

This was our second time st this hotel everything was great except when we had an issue with priviledge issues the girls in the office stated we are new and can't help. They took reservations for a resturant that was closed and didn't call us to tell us till late in the afternoon on the date of the reservation so we had to do buffet and one of our party got very sick on the fish. Priviledge has gone way down hill over last year hopefully it improves

From the moment I walked into the resort I felt very welcomed and loved. The resort itself instantly gives you the feeling of paradise and all the staff are friendly and always smiling. The privileged lounge staff were beyond nice, very professional and informative. I love how everyone that works there is always smiling. I would definitely stay there again, Everything was perfect from the staff, to the hotel restaurants & amenities, to the ocean, thanks for the amazing time! Pura Vida

Privilege not necessarily privileged

Our family of 4 enjoyed our stay, especially while our other friends with children stayed on property. Plenty of pools and space to enjoy the sun and fun. Nightly activities at and by the theater were very enjoyable. Kids loved giant chess board and shuffleboard. Stayed in a Privilege room. Very spacious and plenty of amenities, but our room had a distinct smell during our stay. Brought in a dehumidifier to help with issue, however did not rid the musty smell from our room. Now back home we realize how badly all our clothes smell from being in the room, and will be doing plenty of laundry as a result. It was nice to have a butler available to us. She did her best to make dinner reservations and ask if we were enjoying our stay. It was also nice as a Privilege guest to have access to the higher quality beverages, your own lounge for meals, and not have to deal with towel cards or worry about being charged for towels that you did not turn in. Also, the Privilege access area of the beach is nice with beds available and dedicated staff. With that being said, we still found it difficult to make reservations at certain restaurants on property especially if you have a bigger party of people. The food was good. Breakfast buffet at Amaranto was great. Seafood at Pez Vela was a little disappointing. Steakhouse, Italian, Mexican and Sakura were very good. Unable to go to Route 66 but friends who went said it was good. In the end we had fun and kids are happy.

Nice hotel with something for everyone.

Friendly staff. Nice accomodations. Food portions could've been larger at the restaurants for reservations. Nice buffets, but more variety from night to night would've been nice. Privellege package was worth it and rooftop balcony was a delight and with its own bathroom on this level! Great! Room service was timely and mostly accurate.

Amazing hotel

Honestly there is very little to criticize on this hotel. The service was top notch, the rooms were made sometimes twice a day. The food was good. The resort is huge. The only complaint I have is unruly 18 year olds with poor parent supervision but you can’t put that on the resort and are going to get that everywhere you go. Amazing time overall

I’m too tired to list all of the bad experiences we had at this property the past 5 days but if Expedia allows me to, I will update this once I get my rest and have time to list everything. In a short, do not stay here if 1. You are going with only adults (kids are everywhere no matter what part of the resort you stay) - kids of all ages and the young adult teens (18-20) are the worse but the youngest kids run amuck up and down the room hallways as early as 6am and you’ll hear EVERYTHING. 2. Do NOT pay extra for “privilege” - we also pay for the extra services at every playa resort we stay at and this one was BY FAR the worst one yet. The customer service is rude and they could care less about any issues. In fact, I feel they make guests visits worse if you make any sort of complaint. Too many times, when I went to talk to them, they would all be on their cell phones or conversing with each other laughing, instead of helping privilege guests. They were useless our entire trip. They made tons of promises, and didn’t keep any of them. We weren’t able to have any dinner reservations made because they didn’t make us aware of doing so night 1. I’ll explain more later. But I can guarantee we will never return to this property or any of their sister properties based on how bad their service is. They hone in one families to purchase their time share and give them the most attention, so couples, go elsewhere. I highly recommend going to Paradisus La Perla for top notch service, food,

Service not what Im used to.

Been going to Mexico for 20+ years. Used to getting what I ask for, phone doesn't work 3 days, want pool area swept 2 days. Usually every employee acknowledges that I exist when they pass. Buffet was not stocked appropriately and it was a mess. However restaurants were very good.

Modern and new hotel.

All was nice, but we had a wet smell problem in our room and the supervisor was very unfriendly and didn’t do anything to solve it. After three days and many claims we were moved to another room. The rest of employees very helpful.( Juan, Ivone,...) The entertainers were proficient and nice.

Second trip there and wasn't disappointed.

This was our second time at ORP , both times in the Privilege section. This time a swimup pool. Beautiful clean suite. Jacuzzi bath in bathroom and on patio. Best shower we have ever had. Amazing pressure and plenty of hot water. We went to private section at beach with butler service. Mostly drink in Privilege bar and rooftop lounge. So private and what views. The casino was open and we played slots. Bowled two nites in a row.Restaurants were super. Privilege gets you reservations and front of the line. Jazz nite by the pool [one of many pools] with live band and canapés. Lovely touch. A great ice cream parlour. Beautiful well manicured grounds. Will be back. Loved it.

Lo mejor comida surtida, bien elaborada, restaurant temáticos buenos, camas clómodas, baños y piezas amplias, bonito el entorno y lugar, playa tranquila que permite nadar con niños El servicio en general bueno, en partícular la recepcionista del restaurante mexicano, creo que se llamaba Graciela. A mejorar, Olor a húmedad en las piezas, principalmente en las almohadas, ropa de cama y artículos como el teléfono, No hay jugos de frutas naturales y los que ofrecen no están a la altura de la comida, El carrito de traslado nunca ofrece llevarte y pasa rápido y silencioso, No percibimos mayor diferencia por comprar el paquete privilege, por ej la piscina siempre tenían mucha gente y nos pareció ver usuarios con otras pulseras, en la playa el sector privilege nunca pudimos ocupar las camas, muy pocas para la cantidad de gente, y la reposición del minibatr, artículos de tocador y baño no era a diario, al concierge lo vimos cuando llegamos y luego nunca más Los empleados limpian las algas a mano, por la cantidad un carro nos parece necesario El servicio del Jefe del restaurant Pez Vela,Manuel, pasé un momento desagradable con él, nada grave, pero innecesario.

Beautiful facilities but needs a little improvemet

We stayed at the Ocean Riviera Paradise Privilege section. We choose this resort for the modern decor, amount of restaurants and activities, and the unlimited a la cart dining. One of our perks for the Privilege sections was being about to make dining reservations, this process worked flawlessly. We often used the privilege dining lounge and roof top Chill Out lounge both of which were always quiet and a peaceful place to relax with an ocean view. The food was all very good, presented beautifully and no one got ill. Occasionally the service was slow or we would be missing an ordered item. I am Celiac so getting gluten-free food was a priority. Getting food wasn't an issue as all menus have symbols but I always had a bit of trouble communicating my needs at the main buffet (which the gluten free area only had bread) and the Privilege lounge. The resort is very long and has a small beach front (which is always busy). In fact, unless you are on the roof at the Privilege building or staying in Eden you will not see the Ocean at all. This was okay with us as chairs were always available by the pool. Our biggest complaint was that our room had a horrible mold smell. When we arrived they had a dehumidifier running in our room but it took days for the smell to improve. We requested to change rooms but then talked to a couple other guests in our building who all had the same complaint. My suitcase and other belongings still smell after returning home.

Privilege is worth every cent

We just got back from 5 nights at the Ocean Riviera Paradise and had an amazing time. Our room, although muggy and humid, was amazing. We had the junior rooftop suite in the Privilege building and our ocean view and morning hot tub dips were worth every cent. The pools and swim up bars were great. Food was great. We recommend the buffet, Privilege lounge and Blue Moon restaurant... or even the room service. Staff were friendly and attentive. The resort was packed but we had no issues with getting tables at the restaurants I suggested and had no trouble getting drinks. Washrooms are exceptionally clean. Much cleaner than any public washroom you’ll find in Toronto. It rained quite hard a couple of days and the walkways became flooded (ankle deep). That’s pretty much the only negative I have. I heard the first floor suites were flooded, but we were fine in the rooftop suite.

Strongly do not recommend this resort. I booked the Privilege package and nothing about this trip has been privileged. 1. I booked a Privilege rooftop room. Upon arrival to the resort they took us to a room that was not ours. It was half the size and in the middle floor facing the dumpster. 2. The resort lost our baggage 3. Check in was at 3pm. At 3:01 pm we attempted to make reservations at various restaurants on the resort and were unable to due to overbooking. 4. We have seen our assigned butler one time 5. There was a wine tasting event we were interested in, we were unable to go because it was booked. 6. The “Privilege” amenities are crowded by others who did not pay for the privilege package, wait at bars behind them, they take up chairs at the Privilege pool and beach. 7. At 9am we went to the beach to reserve a spot we wanted on the Privilege area of the beach, all were taken. 8. When you order top shelf drinks, some of the bar tenders roll their eyes at you and make you feel like you are asking too much. 9. There is one waiter poolside and beachside to take orders, so if you order a drink you may or may not see it an hour later. 10. After taking a shower, our floor in the entire area has 2 inches or water. We called for service, 2 hours later did not see anyone to help. 11. The current usd to peso in Mexico is 1 usd = 18.79 pesos. The resort told us that the rate on the resort is 1 usd is 15 pesos. This is a 100% honest review of this resort

For Those That Are Hesitant Because of Bad Reviews

I'll start this off how many others did in admitting that I was hesitant to book this resort considering the decent number of negative reviews online, but I took the chance. I'm in my mid 20s and I have visited many all-inclusives (DR, Panama, MX). The best resort I've ever visited has always been the Paradisus in Punta Cana, but it has finally met it's match. I couldn't have been happier with our experience at Ocean Riviera Paradise. HOWEVER, I 100% recommend booking a Privilege Package. You do get treated better and you will NOT enjoy this resort without it! Check-in took a while, but we did so in an exclusive lounge. We did get pitched a time share breakfast as expected, but I politely turned them down and they let it go with no questions asked (a first in my experience). If you are celebrating anything, DEFINITELY mention it. They said our building was sold out but they would upgrade us to "the best room in the resort" in another building. My fiance looked at me cautiously, paranoid we were getting scammed. We. were. not. - the room was incredible: 2 floors, 3 bathrooms, 2 balconies, ocean view with an outdoor jacuzzi. We also enjoyed the Privilege-only rooftop bar where the bartender sent us off to bed with an entire bottle of champagne. While the food is just OK, the restaurants are absolutely gorgeous. I should mention that the sound of all of the different types of birds was incredible while lounging by the pool.

Hotel was perfect for our needs.

Great mother/daughter getaway. We were impressed by the Privilege service, butler, concierge service and our room facing the Privilege pool. The pool attendant always had our chairs ready for us and was very attentive to our needs. The concierge booked reservations for all the restaurants easily. The drinks were available with premium alcohol and the food throughout the hotel (with the exception of the Steak House) was excellent. The rooms and pools were exceptionally clean. We enjoyed the outside entertainment, Jazz night, Italian arias. The evening shows were weak except for the Circus show. We don’t usually attend the shows anyway. We enjoyed our meals at the Blue Moon, the Japanese Restaurant, The Italian Restaurant and the Privilege Lounge. The buffet was also great. The Steak House was very disappointing, there are better steaks at the Blue Moon and the Italian Restaurant.

Ótimo resort... grande experiência!

Ótimo resort... diversão para todos os gostos e ótimos restaurantes!!! A praia não impressiona, mas também não atrapalha. Vale a pena ser PRIVILEGE e ter serviço de quarto 24h, além de outros mimos. Quarto enorme e com uma ótima jacuzzi no terraço... muito bom para relaxar. Os funcionários do SPA poderiam andar, falar e interromper menos o relaxamento dos usuários no local. Afinal, um spa é para isso.
