"In the first place be very careful with the booking, there are more than one 'city Garden hotels'. I thought I was getting one near the airport and ended up clear over by the American embassy in deepest downtown Manila. What I thought I was saving in room cost I'm more than spent in Taxi fees coming and going to the hotel. The hotel is located within an old and dated building with only one small elevator serving nine floors. The check-in process was friendly and helpful but the staff is not overly communicative in English. The facility does have a bar although it's just a wide spot in the lobby opening out overlooking the street, no quiet place and nothing but barstools to sit on. The restaurant was kind of like a Denny's inside, but the food was good and plentiful and breakfast buffet was excellent, while leaning heavily on Filipino style food. Clearly this is a local facility there were few visitors (I think only four of Anglos in the place). There was a huge wedding going on, which kept the elevator completely jammed for an hour, which was inconvenient, but a great look at Filipino culture. it was not bad but not what I expected."

"The air conditioning only works when you're in the room with your room key card inserted into a box on the wall. The room was around 90 degrees F when I went in and, if you leave and remove your card, the air turns off and you come back to a hot room again. I know this is common in the Philippines but that doesn't make it any easier on guests. It also shows that it's on a main street but it's in a back alley. Even the locals told me not to walk the alleys so I assume that means it's not safe. It's fine if you're there 1 day to go to the embassy or something but if you're stay is for vacation in Manila, definitely find a different hotel."

"Our stay at the Ramada by Wyndham was for four days. Breakfast on the 16th floor was good and catered for all travellers. The hotel location was central, next to Chinatown and close to most must-see Manila attractions. The hotel shuttle service (leaving at 9 am and 11 am and return pickups in the afternoon) was on time and convenient, and took us to the Museum and Intramuros. The hotel was within walking distance of restaurants, ATMs, and malls (such as Lucky Chinatown, 999, and 168). The room was comfortable. Some mould in the bathroom. The air conditioner worked effectively. Of particular note was the friendliness of the staff from reception, breakfast and security door staff. Of special mention is Edward (Front Office Supervisor) on the reception ground floor. His advice on what to see in Manila, the cost of transport, his approachability and his general level of customer service were extremely noticeable. Many thanks, Edward!"

"This was our first night in the Philippines for our Honeymoon before heading to Clark International Airport for a flight to Coron. Based on reviews and photos, it wasn't 100% what we expected, but it worked fine for a quick one-night stopover. The Cons: The Room: Very basic and not what we booked on Expedia (we paid for a clear sea view, but it was obstructed). On-site Amenities: We were unable to book massages at the hotel. The Pros: The Pool: By far the highlight of the hotel, featuring a gorgeous view overlooking the bay. Location & Security: Great location for a morning commute to Clark, and excellent security keeping non-guests out. Breakfast: Included with the stay—nothing fancy, but fine with a decent variety. Nearby Spa: Since the hotel spa was unavailable, we walked down the road to Hotel H2O for Swedish massages, which were excellent."
