Rancho Andrea
Let me start by saying Jose went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. He even kayaked into town to get us some supplies. Thank you so much Jose
We had to wait for over an hour to check in which was a little frustrating. Rooms were clean and had beautiful views. A lovely balcony to sit and enjoy the birds and views.
Kitchen supplies, plates, utensils, frying pans definitely need to be replaced with newer. They have had happier days.
The grounds are very natural. They do need some tidying up though. Nice place for bird watching.
Kayaks couple be replace as there are some holes in them. Was still nice to go out for a paddle.
If you want to kick back and relax, this is the place. Enjoyed our stay and will return. The sunrise over the mountains is stunning.
Can’t comment on the fishing because we did not fish, just needed some quiet time and Rancho Andrea was perfect for that
This place is in a beautiful location, no doubt. It is on the shore of a huge inland lake in the middle of no-where. But the property is falling into major dis-repair. Tools/Equipment left out everywhere, some construction materials, just cluttered. I loved the room that I had (#4) it over looked the lake and a beautiful patch of primary forest that had tons of amazing birds to watch. But the room's screen doors onto the balcony had big holes in them and didn't slide properly. Due to this, I'm not sure if it was black flies OR bed bugs, but I got bitten quite badly at night and was very itchy for days. There is no air conditioner which makes it pretty hot inside, but the nice wide pattio doors and the fan help with air flow. If you are looking for a semi-camping experience in a remote area with no-one else around, this might be for you. Don't count on catching any fish - the locals are all using massive nets to pull up schools of Bass and Tilipia, so I doubt that there is much sport fish left around to catch. We tried one morning - guy was an hour late getting me - and didn't hook into anything (equipment provided was pretty old and crappy too). We did pull up some massive crawfish that he gave me and I cooked up for dinner - delicious! There are no restaurants or facilities to speak of here either - a nice covered dining area overlooking the lake with a wood-bbq area and outdoor kitchen. The room had a gas stove and sink, so I was able to prepare my meals.
