"Weve been to this resort twice now, we do enjoy it. The restaurants are a little pricey but thats to be expected at a resort, there is a mall behind the resort in walking distance with some good options for food to!. My kids love the pool area & with the waterslide it is a fun extra & the lawn games/activities they do is great! The rooms feel a little small but decently clean , the beds/pillows are comfy, my only real absolute worst thing I hate about the rooms is their shower set up in the bathroom it does not have a closing door or curtain its only half covered by glass & then open so especially with kids the entire bathroom floor just gets absolutely soaked & it is just so gross to have a soaking wet bathroom floor, I kept requesting extra towels to keep putting all over the floor/wiping up the floor. Its just an ick bad design in my opinion. The staff is very nice & helpful."
"The smoke was unbearable. I ended up having an asthma attack and leaving my reservation 3 days early. It’s been a week and I still can’t get in touch with anyone regarding a refund for my stay. I call
And the staff transfer me to a dead phone line.
The room temperature never reached the desired temperature. It was hot and stuffy. And whole place reeked of cigarette smoke.
They say they have a gym. But do not. It’s closed. Spa is closed. FOR 6 YEARS. No big winnings at the casino. Just don’t bother. Harrahs is 15 mins down the road.
Avoid at all cost. "
"Eric experience with the Kings Inn was very positive. The room was spacious, very clean, plenty of towels. The cute retro refrigerator was nice, and the bed was comfortable. Guests received a 10% discount at the two different restaurants, and the pool and hot tub were very nice. The location was great, very close to the airport and San Diego sights, and there’s a cute little town just up the hill with lots of restaurants and bars.
One thing my wife, especially liked was that the bathroom lighting was excellent, as by comparison, some hotels have poor lighting in the bathroom in order to put on makeup, etc.
Parking was plentiful, but was $15 a day. That seemed a little high.
This is an excellent tourist hotel, great for kids, and affordable.
Overall, a great experience. We would definitely stay here again!"
"We loved our room overlooking the ocean. Staff were very accommodating. Shuttle to La Jolla was great. Meals were delicious with a great view. Missed having a pool (repairs underway) but took many walks on the beach and enjoyed the umbrella and chairs available at the beach. This is one of our favorite beaches in the San Diego area."

Everything was monetized: (1) this was a suburban hotel with a large uncovered, ungated, parking lot on the property. Parking is free at most similar hotels. Doubletree charged $28 a night for the privilege.
(2) The breakfast spread was no different in kind or quality to the free breakfasts found at at best western or holiday inn express hotels-- scrambled eggs, assortments of small yoguarts, make your own waffles, selections of breads and ceareal. Double tree chargred 25 for that breakfast buffet.
(3) We were offered a delayed checkout to 2pm ( typically a free courtesy offered if requested). Doubletree wanted $25 an extended checkout.
As for regular cleaning, there a noticeable blue paper trash in the hallway when we arrived in Friday and it was still there when whe left on Sunday morning.
