"The room was larger than I expected knowing the area the hotel is in. The room also had a kitchenette area with a fridge/freezer, microwave, and bar sink. If I wanted to eat in the room a small dining table was part of the decor. There are many restaurants and shops within walking distance along with numerous public transportation options. Parking would be my only concern if the hotel is full as you can not park on the street. There are numerous parking lots, but you never know."
"It is an older motel, but it DESPERATELY NEEDS UPDATING.
The room was not fully clean, mildew/mold in the shower, questionable spots on the curtains and walls, not everything was wiped down like the side table and boards.
First time using the restroom I almost jumped out of my skin from the toilet flush it was so loud.
Bed was clean with the exception of a few red/black spots on the pillow cases.
There was a large gap in the door and door frame, which could have been from natural foundation shifting, but not fully safe feeling.
Front Desk agents were nice, I had lost an item and was waiting at the front desk as I was leaving."
"The hotel itself is excellent—brand new, clean, modern, and well maintained. The amenities and overall atmosphere made for a pleasant stay.
Unfortunately, our check-in experience on the evening of May 31 was disappointing. The front desk associate was on a phone call for about ~10–15 minutes while guests waited in line and did not acknowledge anyone waiting. A simple greeting or update would have gone a long way. When we finally checked in, it was difficult to get clear answers to questions about parking and Wi-Fi, and even the handwritten room number was hard to read.
I was also disappointed by the booking experience. On Expedia, breakfast and parking were listed as “Available,” with no option to select them separately during booking. I assumed they were included in the room rate, so it was surprising to learn they came at an additional cost. While Expedia may use “Available” to mean “available for an extra charge,” I found that wording misleading. Travelers should not have to search through fine print to understand what is included.
On a positive note, the front desk staff the next day were outstanding. They were friendly, professional, answered all of our questions, and provided helpful recommendations about the city.
Overall, the property is excellent, but the check-in experience and lack of clarity around additional charges left room for improvement."
"My brother booked a stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Chicago Alsip for his birthday because the hotel looked great in the photos and appeared to offer a quality guest experience. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing from the moment he arrived.
During check-in, the front desk staff were unfriendly, unhelpful, and appeared unwilling to assist him. The check-in process took an unusually long time, and the overall customer service was poor. As a guest, you expect to be treated with respect and professionalism, especially at a Hilton-branded hotel.
The biggest issue occurred the following morning. My brother had already paid for early check-in and check out and requested what time late check-out. We understand that late check-out may depend on availability, and that is completely reasonable. However, when we called the front desk for clarification, the receptionist, whose name was either Kay or Kai, was extremely rude. Instead of explaining the situation professionally, she abruptly hung up the phone. We called back multiple times, but our calls went unanswered.
This experience left us feeling disrespected and questioning whether all guests are treated equally. As African guests, we could not help but feel uncomfortable based on the way we were treated throughout our stay. Whether intentional or not, the service we received did not reflect the hospitality, professionalism, or customer care expected from DoubleTree by Hilton.

Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Chicago-Midway Airport by IHG
10/10 Excellent
"The staff at the Holiday Inn Express Midway were very friendly during our stay. The breakfast was also good, providing some different options daily with style of eggs and sides. The parking lot did fill up since there are a couple of other hotels in that section using the same lot, but we were able to still find a spot and didn’t have any problems with our car in a busy lot."
