"I rarely write hotel reviews, but this stay left me with enough to say - good and bad.
Let's start with the highlights: the breakfast buffet was genuinely exceptional - one of the best I've encountered. The sauna was also a pleasant touch and worked well.
Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. The room temperature was uncomfortably warm with no way to open the windows or adjust the climate - a real issue for a comfortable night's sleep. The gym was locked throughout my stay and completely inaccessible, with no explanation offered.
The TV channel selection was puzzling: no Latvian channels whatsoever, yet Estonian, Ukrainian, and three Russian channels were available. Given the current geopolitical climate, this feels tone-deaf and is worth revisiting. The décor in the corridors also appears not to have been updated since Soviet times - the carpets in particular look like relics from another era.
The breakfast alone could earn a return visit, but the hotel has some catching up to do if it wants to meet modern expectations - especially for guests in the capital of Latvia."
