Did not enjoy the hotel . Food was not nice but still very expensive. Paid extra for a king sized bed and got 2 singles pushed together. Desk never maned .. cold ... never again

Lovely gardens, fluffy towels

Bedrooms look "tired" and need updating. Ensuite shower needed a deep clean, not a fan of carpets or cobwebs in bathrooms. Breakfast was haphazard, tea/coffee/juices/toast making were tucked out of sight, there needs to be a staff member to show you to your table, it was 10 minutes before a waiter asked what we wanted to eat. A menu would have been useful as we weren't sure what was available!.....very slow service

ok for the money

Stayed in a single room, bed was on the firm side. TV was small but did the job once the hotel staff had tracked down the correct remote. Rooms are a little noisy until gone 10pm but after that heard little noise apart from the wildlife. Room was very dated and smelt a little of damp when I first arrived but otherwise clean and tidy. Breakfast was buffet style with cereals, yogurts and hot food to choose from; the bacon was perfect. Set in nice grounds. If you're just looking for a cheap room with breakfast to break up a long drive then good value for money, if you're looking for something a bit more roomy and modern then I'd look elsewhere

Budget stay on the Wye

It's cheap and you get what you pay for- the decor is so old it'll be back in fashion soon and the shower was rubbish. Other than that, everything worked, breakfast was okay, the TV worked and the bed was comfortable. The staff were okay but we hardly came across them, and the location couldn't be better. A short walk to Ye Olde Ferrie and if their ferry is going you can access the other side with ease- and canoes are right by the hotel.

Nice area but tired hotel

We booked a king size room overlooking the valley. What we got was a small double overlooking a building site. The bed felt as if it had no mattress and the radiators could not be turned off. After returning to the check in we were put in a bigger room overlooking the valley with a somewhat improved degree of comfort. The bar area was quite limited and closed early (about 10.30) Breakfast was ok but there was only one waitress on duty and with only 2 pots of tea for everyone there was a wait for drinks. The food was tasty but not very hot and having requested poached eggs we were kept waiting for at least 20 minutes whilst fried eggs were brought out then finally settled for 2 boiled eggs as the waitress obviously didn't know what a poached egg was. Despite having been partly redecorated it give the air of a tired hotel with the constant smell of cooking permeating the whole place.

Lovely location, lovely staff

When we arrived they were very welcoming. The room was basic but had a great view over the river. There was no wi-fi or phone signal so meeting up with friends was difficult. Also no information on check out time and no response at reception when we tried to call to find out. They weren't prepared for us to vibe back late after we'd met up with our friends although they worked something out for us. No complaints about the people, but not good value for money.

Had to as reception to ask whoever was in the room above to be quiet, sounded like the where moving furniture around for a long while, Woke up in the morning with noise from floorboards above, Was not happy.
