Our stay at the Black Swan hotel was lovely. The gorgeous garden overlooking the lake was beyond our expectations. We had both breakfast and dinner onsite and the service was impeccable. We felt like kings. A very memorable stay. We will be back. Thank you

This was a lovely small inn set on beautiful landscaped property (trickling waterfall, gardens, pool, etc) overlooking the lake. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Meals were delicious! For breakfast, which was included , we loved the combination of cold options set out as a buffet along with a hot entree made to order. This was all served in a dining room overlooking the lake. The room was clean, private and peaceful. Beds were super comfortable . Would love to go back here someday!

The hotel is very nice, but very limited in amenities. No gym, no spa, no restaurant, no bar. If you get good weather, it is fine because Rotorua is gorgeous, but the price is too steep ($600 ) for what the hotel offers

Our stay at Black Swan was absolutely perfect! Everything was beautiful from the place itself to the grounds and all with a view to die for but what really made my husband and I’s stay so wonderful was the property manager Rowena! She took such good care of us and went over and beyond to make sure we didn’t need anything our two nights there. Would recommend anyone wanting an amazing stay that is slightly off the beaten path from all the hustle and bustle to book here. You won’t regret it :)

Nice staycation

The long access driveway down is narrow and windy. However we never encountered opposing traffic so no problem but it would have been a bit scary if there was a on coming traffic and 1 of the cars has to back up to give way. There is just no room for passing.

This is a very pretty, instagram able hotel. It is clean and the staff was very nice. The reason I am not giving it 5 stars is that the rooms do not have a deadbolt, chain, or other way for someone inside the room to lock the room so that a hotel employee with a key cannot enter. This is a dealbreaker for me - I would not have stayed here if I had known. The reason is that years ago in another country a hotel employee entered my room with a key and assaulted me. I honestly thought it was a building code requirement for hotels to have deadbolts. I highly recommend the hotel install them.

What a lovely setting for a stay in Rotarua! Close enough to town to have easy access while keeping a bit of distance between the amazing geysers and their aromas and antics. Further, the rooms and grounds are a destination in themselves, with the accommodating manager Rajiv Shama and his staff always available to help with questions, reservations, and transportation. Breakfasts were lovely and fast. Take the time to walk the grounds and talk to the parrots. Thoroughly charming.

Awful experience on our honeymoon, not 5*

We stayed here for one night during our honeymoon - had a completely awful experience. We arrived from a long drive to be told there was nowhere for us to park our car. There was also no space for us at dinner, and no room service, so we were told to travel to town for food. This was already an awful start in a supposedly five star hotel. Our room was completely open to everyone walking in and out of the reception, felt like a motel. It smelled like damp and the shower was in dire need of maintenance (flaking paint, mouldy sealant). After getting some dinner in town, we came back to find out that there wasn’t any hot water in our shower. All the staff had left for the evening so there was nobody to notify, or who could help. Overall a really poor experience, and definitely not five star. I would struggle to give it one star

Very special relaxing stay

Spectacular location overlooking the lake. Quiet and peaceful. The conservatory was lovely to relax with a cuppa overlooking the gardens. Comfortable bed, lovely deep soaking bath. Great breakfast overlooking the black swans in the lake. Wish we had longer than one night. Fantastic service. CJ gave an excellent recommendation to go soak in a local hot waterfall which was a fantastic experience!
