The staff on reception are friendly. The housekeeping is terrible. The carpet hadnt been vaccuumed the heated towel rail in the bathroom had a sticky spillage on it. The mattress, though firm and not uncomfortable, i could feel the springs. The oddest thing is the (none too clean) sock hanging from the ceiling, possibly covering the sprinkler or smoke alarm. The place desperately needs completely redecorating and upgrading.

It was dirty and in serious need of refurbishment. There are no facilities at all in the hotel. The room was cold and did not get cleaned at all during my stay. It was noisy and I was woken up one morning by someone banging on my door at 6.00 I would never recommend this place to anyone

Overnight Stay With Dog

After booking I read the reviews and was slightly worried, but as I was literally only using it for an overnight stay I decided to go with it. It is not as bad as some people are making out. Yes it could do with new carpets, yes it’s a bit rough and ready, but for the price it’s excellent value for money. I took my dog with me, and was a bit annoyed that they asked me for extra money for her when this wasn’t mentioned anywhere else. Sadly she wouldn’t settle because there were some noises from the corridor all night - but if I had been on my own it wouldn’t have bothered me. The bed was comfy, the shower was great. It was a trek up two flights of stairs for room 12, but it was great value for money. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again if I thought my dog would settle this time. We left in the end at 5am because I was conscious about her disturbing over guests All in all a good stay, just frustrating it was my dog who couldn’t sleep and I had to pay extra which I wasn’t expecting for the privilege

One of the worst places ever stayed in

Supposed to be a hotel, no food, no breakfast, no tea making facilities, bed bugs, mattress with broken noisy springs, bathroom dirty, chewing gum stuck on walls, building appeared semi- derelict from outside. It was not what I consider a hotel, possibly a boarding house.

Well if you have very tight budget then only go in

Well, they gave the room in the annex hotel. The bed was pathetic. I got a body ache and my son even didn't sleep well. There was no latch in the bathroom, no even a toilet soap. I can hear the noise of opening a bathroom tab from the next room. No tea coffee facilities in the room.

We stayed here twenty odd years ago, as family in the area. Shame it has gone to mediocre now. Would have been nice if breakfast was included, but room was clean and bed comfortable enough.

I think this place has great potential :) We only stayed 1 night and was happy with the service. Yes it's a bit run down but I thought it was ok.

Terrible hotel, needs major refurb

I really should of read the reviews on this place, we arrived but didn't stay long, the place smelt of old smoke the walls looked like they hadn't been decorated for years and the room didn't get any better, awful suffice to say we got our money back and left quickly

The was no lighting in the corridor I had to use my phone to get to my room. There were stains in the bathroom and something was biting when I went to bed so impossible to sleep.

Front of house staff was very friendly & inviting. Made it very clear where we had to go to find our rooms & where everything we needed was. Room was relatively clean. Bed was well made & spotless. Wall's were very thing & could hear everything in the next room. Wallpaper was cracking & slight mould on walls. Bathroom had a weird muggy smell to it & shower pressure was very weak, BUT considering the room was very cheap & you get what you've paid for, we really wasn't dissapointed in the price compared to the quality.
