"The Strathcona is an easy walk from the ferry terminals, and is well served by the local bus system. It's also close to just about everything downtown.
We had a mid-week stay at the Strathcona in the off-season (November), for which the price for a king-bed room seemed quite reasonable. Our room was on the side of the building that faces away from the main street. There wasn't any view from the window there, but it was exceptionally quiet. This, and the fact that it was quite dark with the curtains drawn, made for a good night's sleep.
The bed was quite firm, which we like, but the pillows weren't to our liking. They were very tall, which made it difficult to sleep on them - I ended up putting mine on the floor and using the spare blanket as a pillow. The air conditioner unit in the room seemed to work, but after much fiddling with the thermostat we were unable to vary the temperature in the room much either way. It would periodically produce a little warm air, but never changed the ambient temperature of the room much."
