"De passage dans la région nous avons eu le plaisir de séjourner 2 nuits au Manoir de la vieille douve, un très bel établissement, parfaitement bien rénové, dans un cadre très agréable. "I arrived and the owner wasn’t expecting me even though I had booked earlier that day through Expedia. The room was fine, hard mattress but I like that. A bit outdated and hard worn sheets but I slept really well. I asked about dinner and the owner said yes 7:30. I was sat in reception alone (in the dark as the light kept going off) and served a bowl of pasta with chopped up smoked salmon and cheese, a dry crepe and a terrible packaged flan. It certainly wasn’t worth €22 I think I received a...

Le Manoir de la Vieille Douve

10/10 Excellent

"Lovely 15th century farm house with all the charm that comes with it. Great indoor pool and peaceful setting. The hosts were great and very welcoming. Perfect!"

"Helpful staff, with clean and airy rooms."

Château L'escale

10/10 Excellent

"Wow, what an amazing place. Beautiful old building, wonderful gardens, even a lake to walk around. Swimming pool, games room, good sized stylish bedrooms with lovely high ceilings. Quality breakfast. Would definitely return if visiting the area again."

L'auberge le prieuré des gourmands

10/10 Excellent

"Very nice hotel, clean, spacious, well maintained. Very comfortable. Staff a little dour and not very engaging, but my French was poor so maybe that was it, but the property was good."

Hôtel de La Loire Ancenis – Restaurant Les Bateliers

8/10 Good

" I booked a twin room for myself and my son and we had a lovely meal the evening we arrived. We only had coffee in the morning before departing. My only complaint would be that the beds are suitable for children but not so much for adults. Wider quilts that cover you and hang over the bed further would have made it a more comfortable nights sleep, especially for my son who is tall and of larger build, plus extra pillows in the wardrobe for those who require them would have been appreciated. This was our only disappointment. Otherwise we were very pleased with the food and service. "

La Marmoire

10/10 Excellent

"Stayed for 3 nights in October 2025. The stay was very pleasant. The room was comfortable, warm and clean. The hosts were very accommodating and done rverything to make my stay plesent. The property is in a very nice, remote, and quiet area. Chateaubriant is a ten minute drive away, with lots of nice restaurants. Dinner one evening was very plesent and good value for money. Would definitely return. "
