"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Highlander Mountain House .. with a few caveats. First the good: The staff were friendly and helpful, the location is ideal - right in the heart of downtown easily walkable to many shops and restaurants. The room was attractive with soft linens and quality toiletries.
However, the room was very small, and as such it didn't feel like the owners utilized the space efficiently. The nightstand space on each side of the bed was decorated with snacks (for purchase), coffee accoutrements, books, records, record players, games, etc. While all of these were thoughtful touches and useful for entertainment purposes, it left no real place to put anything. There were no additional shelves or tables that could be used to place items other than the floor. A small luggage rack was provided which can accomodate one suitcase. It then became piled with all our other belongings because I didn't want to put my purses, coat, jewelry box etc on the floor. Even if we had chosen to use the provided record player, there isn't really anywhere to place it in usable position besides the bed.
I would still stay here again, but it would be nice if there were less entertainments in the room and more useable space."
