"This hotel is a short drive to Monterey or even Santa cruz. It's not your average hotel where you wonder if the people are on vacation or if they're actually living there. It's right on the water which is near the Elkhorn Slough. You might see otters in the water and there are a variety of birds right outside of your window. The room was super cute. You have access to the shared kitchen and dining room in the house on the property. I will definitely be staying there again."

"We chose this hotel for the pictures listed on Expedia which shows a beach and people on stairs walking down to the beach. There is no beach close enough to walk, there is no pool and this hotel is on site of a gas station. You check in on the side of the gas station which is connected all together. Our room had a cup of water under the bed and there was a hair on our sheets which grossed me out. It made me assume the room had not been cleaned and our sheets were likely shaken and put back on....

"From check in till check out everything was pleasant. The staff was super friendly and was genuinely ready to assist me with whatever my need were. I got a birthday surprise (wine and cookies) because I mentioned my reason for the stay. They told me I could have called ahead so if you have a birthday when booking please mention it so you can get a room treat. The Saltwood restaurant has a great happy hour. I didn't care for the room service breakfast meals but that doesn't take away my feelings...

"I wanted to say that the staff was friendly. Breakfast was good. The issues I had were 1. The towels and linen smelled funny and had stains. 2. The bathroom set up is horrible. The door is too big so you have to wedge in between the toilet and the shower to close the door. 3. Water pressure was non existent and no hot water. 4. Toilet has a crack so it leaks. 5. Remote did not work unless you were standing right in front of TV. 6. AC units ours and next door were screeching especially at night....

"I’ll start by saying I ignored the reviews and decided to stay anyway—and that was my mistake. Unfortunately, the reviews are accurate. The room was dirty, and the overall environment felt unsafe. There appeared to be a number of individuals on the property who made us uncomfortable, and at one point someone was pounding on our door at 2 a.m. after attempting to get in. To make matters worse, the door’s safety latch/chain was missing. There were also basic safety concerns, such as the absence...
