The staff were friendly at check-in, and the room had air conditioning, a fan, TV, private bathroom, and hot shower. There’s also a fully equipped kitchen and free drinking water to refill your bottles.
The room was dark with a small window, and the furniture, bed, and towels were quite old. We found a few tiny cockroaches in the bathroom on the first day. Payment is cash only, and no shampoo was provided, just bar soap.
We loved the convenient location. The shared kitchen/sitting area was spacious and well set up to accommodate guests. The staff was friendly. Our only suggestion is that the beds could be improved.
We brought our 3 teenage sons here and it was perfect! Clean and in the center of town. We did lots of tours in every direction and it felt like a central location for all of that, too.
When I arrived there was nobody there to let me in. I tried the whatsapp number and got a recording saying it was not a valid number. I was able to send a message through Expedia messaging and got a reply fairly quick. A gentleman working on the roof finally let me in and gave me a key to the room. The beds were basically a brick with springs poking me when I laid down. The walls are very thin and the road noise went on all night. Parking is along the road and very tight and limited. The second night there it sounded like gunshots outside and fairly close. The next day I changed to a different location and was able to finally rest and have a comfortable bed. The room itself was not in the greatest of shape. Cracks in the wall, looked like mold along part of the ceiling. The pictures on Expedia were obviously not recent. The location was convenient for shopping and finding food in downtown. But, when I would leave in my rental vehicle I had a difficult time finding parking when I returned. Once, I had to park two blocks away and walk to the guesthouse because of tour busses taking up all of the parking.

Hugo was great, very accommodating. The location was convenient, easy to walk around town. The hotel is older but clean and meet our needs. The price was right!
We stayed here and did two of the Maya Walk tours. It’s very close to the pickuo point. It’s an Inexpensive, unassuming, tidy and comfortable place. Hugo was present all the time to answer questions or open a door for me. The rooms are air conditioned but not the common areas. The shared kitchen was basic but had everything I needed including a coffee maker, stove and fridge.
The price is right.
Don’t hesitate.
Clean, quiet, and inexpensive option convenient to everything in San Ignacio. The manager, Hugo, was on site and very helpful during our stay. The kitchen area was well stocked with dishes and utensils and was nice to have available. AC worked well in the rooms and it was a relief to have the option to cool off at the end of each day. We’d happily stay there again.
Owner/manager was very responsive and helpful. If you're looking for an affordable place for a night or two that is in the heart of the city this is a good option.
L'hôte est très accueillant et est présent pour nos demandes. La chambre était confortable et les lieux partagés aussi. Et surtout l'emplacement est parfait en plein centre ville.
Stayed 4 nights. Great location. Walk to everything. Friendly staff that were very helpful and flexible. Basic guest house with shared kitchen. Highly recommend for families that want to explore and not stay in their rooms all day.
This property was close to downtown and the places I wanted to go. The owner was nice and helpful, and the kitchen was great! Shower could have used a deep cleaning, but other than that, I was very happy with the guest house!
Great place, good value. Nice and clean. Friendly host.

Good Value and Quite, downtown San Ignacio
So really, I should give this place a 10/10, if your looking for a budget place downtown San Ignacio, but it is extremely quite, great location, use of the kitchen , on the other side, not a 3 star place, a bit tired looking, almost has a hostel feel but private bathrooms, and beds where descent....good value, would go back, but not for my honeymoon...

Western Guest House
The Western Guest House was a decent budget hotel. It was an easy walk for the place where our bus dropped us off (Belize City Water Taxi to San Ignacio Shuttle Bus) and to the main bus station in town. Upon arrival there the door to the entrance was locked but it was not long before the manager happened to open it, just about at the same time my companion made a call to him from a near by shop. Once the entry/exit procedures were outlined our stay went quite well. The room was not very large and the bathroom was small and fairly clean (there were a couple of large beetles in the shower drain at night but nothing was noticed elsewhere). There was a communal kitchen which we used for breakfast and storing drinks and snacks in the refrigerator. The hotel has a small deck overlooking the street. The location was good, it was right on the edge of the main down town area and easy walking to restaurants, shops, bus, tour operators and the local sites. Good value for the money, cleanliness, housekeeping were reasonable, the location very good, the manager provided good service.
