THE FLAG Hotel Marbella Estepona - Adults Recommended
8/10 Good
"Having returned from The FLAG in mid-June, following a 4 day stay, I can wholeheartedly state that it is an excellent hotel and the staff are very pleasant and professional.
To improve, I would suggest that the coffee pods in the rooms are refreshed without incurring a charge, since 2 pods is insufficient for coffee lovers.
Secondly and perhaps most importantly, I booked and twice confirmed a transfer, to and from the Flag to Malaga Airport. Unfortunately, having twice stated that I, my wife and two friends would be arriving with large suitcases and individual hand luggage, The FLAG assigned this job to "Pablo" who arrived with a Tesla! No amount of origami was going to fold our party and luggage to fit Pablo's car. The improvement suggestion for FLAG staff is to fully comprehend the detail of all e-mailed correspondence.
To conclude, "Teslagate" did not spoil our visit in any way, but attention to written detail will save cost and excuses."
"This was pure paradise. The staff makes you feel like you are at a Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton property and they take all-inclusive to a whole new level. Their tagline should read “anything, anytime”! Whether it is the 24 hour room service, the donuts for the kids at the pool, to the top shelf everything, this resort is well worth the money. The pools are always clean, the property is impeccable and the food in the restaurants we top-notch. Who can beat Tattinger Champagne for lunch for your wife or a sparking Rose pool side! We will definitely book IKOS again!"
"While there were many positive aspects of our stay, several service issues fell below the standard expected of a 5-star hotel, which made our overall disappointing.
On arrival, we received a warm welcome, a buggy transfer to our room, and the room itself was excellent-spacious, bright & comfortable. However, we were informed a safe would be installed in our room, and despite multiple reminders over 2 days, this never happened.
The main issue throughout our stay was the buggy service. On several occasions, we waited 30+ minutes after requesting transport, requiring multiple follow-ups before a buggy arrived. This was particularly frustrating when attending a wedding, as despite arranging transport in advance, no buggy arrived and we were forced to walk to the lobby while our taxi waited.
The staff were consistently friendly, polite, and clearly doing their best. Unfortunately, it felt as though the buggy service was under-resourced for the size of the resort.
Our final impression was also disappointing. Checkout involved a lengthy queue, largely due to early check-ins being processed, and when we eventually reached the desk there was no enquiry about our stay or farewell.
That said, there were highlights. The staff's attitude was excellent, the room was beautiful, and the breakfast was outstanding.
I hope the hotel reviews its buggy operations, as improving this area would significantly enhance the guest experience and better reflect the quality expected of a 5-star property."
"The Room and hotel looks excellent, super comfortable bed, stunning bathroom facilities & waterfall shower (helpful bathroom necessities in the draws). Mini bar and the cutest surprise cheesecake in our room upon arrival! (It was Delicious!) The Property was very clean and beautifully styled. Views of the marina were gorgeous and lovely staff. 24hr gym, and roof top pool was lovely with towels ready on the shaded loungers.
There were a few things I felt was missing but nothing that takes away from this gorgeous hotel.
Unfortunately upon arrival when checking in we didnt get confirmation that the buffet breakfast was included with our stay. This was the biggest shame as we ended up looking for somewhere to eat each morning for breakfast and we would have much preferred to have had the breakfast we had already paid for at the hotel.
There was no price list for the mini bar or welcome pack with information about the spa/rooftop terrace hours.
The cleaner did a gorgeous job but did only clean the room once on our 4 night trip which I felt maybe it would have been nice to have a fresh bed each day. Finally we did ask for a taxi to be booked but unfortunately this was forgotten when we arrived downstairs at the booked time and we were on a tight schedule for a wedding. Luckily another couple attending was able to take us.
Overall a gorgeous stay just a few minor things and our stay would have been absolutely perfect!"
"I have stayed at the Hotel Encinar many times. The staff are fabulous, and it's a convenient location. Great facilities, looking forward to my next visit."
