"Situated in a lovely area of the Sussex Downs this small country pub provided ideal accommodation for our visit to Glyndbourne. Clean, simple but well appointed accommodation, with a good breakfast provided in the morning. Long Man Best Ale in cask available at the bar, which was a treat."

"My fiancée and I stayed at The Alfriston during the last weekend of half-term. The welcome was pleasant, and we appreciated the complimentary glass of wine. Unfortunately, almost every part of the stay had issues. Our room was small, overlooking the spa pool, with fairly standard amenities. Dinner was disappointing. The sole server was friendly but repeatedly forgot our order. Drinks took 20–30 minutes to arrive, the rosé was served warm despite which is quite bad when it costs £12–15 a glass....

"Have stayed in 4 hotels and B&B’s in Eastbourne and this is by far and away the best one I’ve stayed in. Victorian features, stain glass windows combined with a modern style. Breakfast choices were eggcelent with proper sausages and bacon, the “house” scrambled eggs was delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking was a bonus as that area of Eastbourne can be tricky to find spaces to park at night. Would definitely stay at The New England again."

"Incredible location across from the beach. Room was spacious and had a view of the beach and the pier. These older buildings don’t have AC but a fan was provided as was a small portable fridge. We didn’t try the bar or restaurant so we can’t rate those. We forgot some important items in our room on checkout and the staff were amazing. They contacted us right away when they found the items and offered to have a staff member deliver them to us. Really helpful."

"The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful,and the food was lovely. The building seemed very poorly maintained, windows were very dirty and the frames were rotting. The flooring was a nightmare, everywhere you walked it creaked and squeaked under your feet. The room was good ( except for the floor! ), very clean but the toilet pan hadn't seen bleach for a while! Outside our windows,the metal balcony was very rusty and had weeds growing on it,so could do with a clean up. One of the lifts was...

"First room was unusable due to extreme noise all night, and I only got moved the next day after reporting it. The first night was therefore effectively lost and no refund was given. Also concerning: the hotel took full credit card details, including the security code (CVV), and wrote them down on a piece of paper, which is unsafe practice. Overall, poor handling of a serious issue and questionable payment security procedures. Expedia offered only a small goodwill credit, which did not reflect...

"È un albergo rimasto fermo a 40 anni fa. Come mobilio e come strutture comuni. I bagni, ad esempio, sono minuscoli e certe camere hanno le docce con l’entrata a 20 centimetri dal water. Non c’è l’aria condizionata ma un ventilatore e la finestra non si può aprire perché entrano i gabbiani! Però è pulito, il personale è gentile e fa di tutto per mettervi a vostro agio, la sala da pranzo è funzionale e ben arredata, la posizione è ottima, i prezzi sono bassi.
