"Good in almost every respect except for the most critical element: the bed was rock hard and the pillows were uncomfortable and unsupportive. Consequently, I suffered from a very poor night's sleep. I've stayed here many times in the past but not particularly recently. So perhaps they've changed the matresses and bedding since I was last here, or I've been unlucky with this 4th floor room. Gym was useful. Breakfast is included and decent."

"Our room was a bit dated but nothing a few hundred quid wouldn't sort out. Overall, the reception area and bar were good but little details like dodgy carpet on the stairs and a filthy trolly with room service food dumped on it let down the overall look. Small things that the management probably walk past every day but fail to notice. We would stay again when in Maidstone due to the great location."

"Very nice hotel , characterful , nice decor in room and public areas. We upgraded to a sea view/balcony room. Was excellent Haven’t tried the Chophouse Restaurant. The Lounge Bar had nice atmosphere with a DJ and many locals popping in for a pint , although the staff were very friendly the service was slow. Will stay again the night before a ferry crossing"
