This is a very moving memorial when you know the background to it but we felt the impact of it was compromised by the tacky plastic flowers and burnt out candles covering it. A separate area for tributes to be left would be better then the shoes would stand out, bearing stark witness to the horror they represent.

Down by the Parliament on the river bank, but no info provided on site, no translated details and no screens telling the story or photos showing how awful the event being commemorated had to have been. The shoes are evocative but are full of crap ie stones, candles, beads, flowers and so they look tacky. The display could be much better curated and so have a greater impact on the visitor.
