DoubleTree by Hilton Harrogate Majestic Hotel & Spa
8/10 Good
"Spa and pool were great and staff very welcoming.
Hotel is very grand and sits in its own grounds which was nice. It was a easy walk into Harrogate to the shops, station or park.
Room was clean and well serviced but whole hotel could do with some TLC. Only one small lift worked all week.
Service at breakfast, bar (food & drinks) was variable. It was sometime necessary to ask for something multiple times, which was a little frustrating.
Great selection at breakfast but please fix the toaster, it was either undercooked or trying to set the place on fire.
Champagne bar is a little misleading as its part of the main restaurant and although we did manage to get a drink there it was clear this was not normal as we were told there was no where to sit, because the restaurant was fully booked (even though there were bar stools) it was only used for serving the main restaurant only."
"We arrived before check in but they had our rooms ready for us which was great to leave our things in the room as we were going straight out for a music festival. The only negative was that we had to pay for an extra breakfast and I thought it was included for all three of us staying. But that could have been my error not noticing it properly on the third party booking site. Breakfast had a good selection, some items were running low but we didn’t have to wait long until it was replenished. Parking was right opposite the hotel and you get a discount when you put your reg in at the reception desk. We had a very pleasant short stay and would highly recommend it."
"Rooms were spotless, staff go above and beyond to be polite, respectful, positive and very help. Breakfast buffet was good and the bar area was perfect for relaxing. We will return."
"Rooms were excessively hot, fan provided but still boiling all night. Some sort of fan system in the room but didn’t seem to provide any cool air and was very noisy"
"Room cleanliness was poor - bogey stuck to a shower tile. Massive toenail under chair in room.
Pretty disgusting.
Small room, tiny bathroom, could hardly move in it.
No storage space - no wardrobe, no bedside drawers. Very small space to hang about two t-shirts.
Tv hung too low.
No phone in room.
No safe in room.
No bottled water.
No teaspoons - cheap, nasty wooden stirrers instead.
Also, can be very noisy outside on Friday and Saturday nights from drunks!
Overall very basic and disappointing.
We won't be staying again."
"This hotel was a perfect to walk to all the sites of interest in York. Also, close to boarding the boat to tour the river, close to many varieties of restaurants and close enough to walk to the train station to leave. Lastly, we had a room looking over the river, beautiful.
Our room toilet would not flush sometimes, even after waiting over 5 minutes to re the tank was full again. The toilet flush handle was com8ngbout of the toilet. The room was quite hot; but, the fan they supplied was helpful."
