Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Clewiston by IHG
4/10 Poor
"I stayed with my 3 kids and my husband. We arrived around 2 am on a Sunday morning after a 5 hour ride there. We get our reserved room and immediately had to get a room change because ANTS were in one of the beds. We get the room next door to that room and the problem remained just not as bad in new room. The next day we wanted to get in the pool just to find out that it needed a good clean. You can see the foam around the edges of the pool. I wouldn't even put my foot in let alone my body. All in all I give this stay a 3 out of 10."
"Excellent place to stay for fishing in the Lake Okeechobee. Nice service. I definitively come back again. I recommend strongly the place to rest and be out of the city noise."
"Advertisement said Historic aka “old” and neglected. A beautiful place once with a great history but it’s over. A beautiful but closed bar with hand painted murals that was charming in its day.
The room was small, lacking outlets, bathroom without a shelf or hook, curtains that could not cover the windows completely to block out the stadium light glare from the 8 pickle ball courts outside our window. We had a king bed with 3 pillows so I asked for another pillow at the desk and the girl said , no we don’t have any!
The breakfast was good coffee, pop tarts, pacs of oatmeal, and waffle mix next to the gallon syrup jug. Breakfast was in a room without A/C in 90 degree heat. We walked across the street to a coffee shop to eat.
I never saw another registered guest. Most days no one was at the desk till 4 pm.
I definitely felt like the experience was out of the movie “The Shining”
Definitely a stay I won’t forget."
"I read all the reviews before booking and quite honestly, I am stunned. The Plaza Travel Inn is a very old, run down hotel in need of many repairs. I don’t know how it is granted a two star rating…it should be a one star hotel at best. You are given an actual metal key to open your door… my door lock was very old, the door was thin and old…and the lock could have easily been broken into or busted off, as it was loose. I did not feel safe during my stay. The hotel is very close to the highway and the traffic noise is loud. There are no amenities to speak of. I had to buy ice at the gas station next door…(again a metal key to undo the padlock on the ice freezer). There is one staff member that checks you into the hotel. He was courteous… but I disagree that I was in a safe place for the night. The bed was very old and squeeky, the bathroom is tiny, toilet hard to flush, shower scalding hot…but the AC did work. Parking spots are tiny and it was difficult to get a spot in front of my room so that I could keep an eye on my car throughout the night. I was uncomfortable for my one night stay and was thankful that nothing happened to me. I do not recommend this hotel."
Yes, there are holiday rentals close to the most popular sights in South Bay, or you can select a more secluded option if you're looking for a relaxing stay.
What’s there to see and do in South Bay?
While you're exploring the area, Lake Okeechobee and Sugarland Park are a couple of picturesque spots to get outside and enjoy nature. Roland Martin Marina and Clewiston Country Club are a couple of places you'll find in the wider area.
What’s a holiday rental in South Bay like?
Holiday rentals are private properties where you can stay for a few weeks, or just a few days, in South Bay. Holiday rentals feature amenities such as hot tubs, fire pits and patios so your stay will be comfortable. If you're concerned about a clean environment, holiday rentals can provide a sense of security away from public hotel lifts and bustling concierge desks while still allowing you the experience of travel. You'll also have more space in a holiday rental than in a hotel, which is another reason why a holiday rental is a popular option for small groups.
