"It’s a nice place to stay. The rooms look quite clean, and the breakfast is good. Free parking is a plus, and the price is very reasonable!"

"This is a nice place to stay for a reasonable price. I only have a couple of issues - no one ever answered the phone when I called the front desk in the early evening, even though they were there at the time. Also, breakfast ends at 9 am, which is very early, especially when one is vacationing and not getting up at the crack of dawn. That being said, the staff is very friendly and the pool is well-kept."

Drury Inn & Suites Birmingham Grandview

"We love staying at all the Drury’s and look for them whenever and wherever we go. The staff was excellent except one person. They kept our room and the inside very well maintained. On the other hand, we were not notified that the swimming pool was down and was just opening the day we left. The outside sidewalk concrete was finished before we got there and never had the caution tape or the comes removed for the 5 days we were there. Hopefully we will have a better experience on our next vacation."

"Here’s a cleaner, balanced version that keeps your point without sounding like a rant: The staff here have been great. I’ve stayed a total of 8 weeks across 3 separate reservations, so I feel like I’ve gotten a pretty good sense of the property. Is it a 5-star hotel? No. But it’s about what you’d expect for the price point. Many residents appear to be long-term guests, and you’ll see things like kids catching the school bus from the parking lot. My biggest frustration is that during my entire stay, the room has never been cleaned. Guests are expected to wash their own towels and bedding, which would be less of an issue if the laundry facilities were fully functional. Unfortunately, more than half of the dryers have been out of service since I arrived in April, and with only four washers available, laundry can become a challenge—especially when machines sit occupied with unattended loads. The most significant issue, however, is the persistent marijuana odor throughout the building. It can be smelled regularly during the day and night. There are no-smoking signs posted throughout the property, but that policy doesn’t seem to be consistently enforced. Overall, the people are friendly and the price is reasonable, but there are definitely opportunities to improve the guest experience."

"I want to give it a lower rating but there was a bed, a working shower and a decent breakfast. Sadly the place does seem to be falling apart, from cracks in the ceilings, slow elevators, smell of smoke everywhere (despite it saying they enforce the no smoking policy) and some broken locks on the inside. We required additional blankets and pillows, I called the front desk (guessed the number as it was not listed on the in room phone) and was told to come to the lobby to pick up the blankets but that the pillows will be delivered to me. Why I couldn’t just pick up both or have both delivered is a mystery to me. The biggest issue was the parking situation. I was expecting to pay for parking on the property but there was quite the limited parking and was told we had to go park in the overflow lot. That lot being a public parking facility which is dimly lit, and does not appear to be very secure (fortunately nothing happened). After parking you have to go through what looks like an alleyway basically and then cross the street to the hotel. Had I know the parking situation exactly I would not have booked here."

Candlewood Suites Birmingham - Inverness by IHG

"We stayed here for two nights. Inside the lobby was hot and there was a bad odor in the halls. The carpet in the room was stained and nasty. The TV was in a precarious position, and you had to turn to the right and maneuver the TV so that you might view it and this was uncomfortable. The recliner had a hole in the armrest and was not clean. The kitchenette was not clean, coffee maker was nasty and the floor was sticky. I wanted to use the refrigerator only to find that it would not keep anything cool. The ice maker in the refrigerator was not functional. The bathroom and shower are separate from the vanity/sink, and you must brush your teeth outside of the bathroom as well as wash your hands outside of the bathroom. The ice maker on the 1st floor was awful, and water was everywhere along with filth. Although they don’t change the bed daily, there was a problem getting clean towels and wash clothes. What is the consumer paying for? Don’t think I will stay here again."
